and i'm jeff barnd. sports unlimited with bruce cunningham starts now. as bad as the injury to manny machado looked.. and it looked bad... it seems it's not as severe as we thought.. his injury is a serious one, but not as bad as was feared.. machado suffered a tear in the media patello-femoral ligament in the left knee... which controls the movement of the kneecap.. but it doesn't look as if he'll need surgery.. it will be 6-8 weeks before he can do anything baseball-wise.. so it's not an acl or mcl injury.. the orioles are taking that as relatively good news... now to the game itself...machado on the bench getting a nice hand from the fans...and they liked this, too... bottom 3rd...birds trail 1-0, but then brian roberts jerks this one over the wall in right...his 7th, and the game is tied.. ..and then the very next hitter, nate mc ,louth, does likewise.. his 12th of the year..and 100th of his career...birds led 2-1.. the jays tie it on a mark derosa single...and then in the 10th, he does it again..derosa with his 2nd rbi single and that was your game

and i'm jeff barnd. just moments ago, baltimore city police identified the two officers involved in yesterday's deadly crash on northern parkway and york road. they are officer adam storie-- a two year veteran, and officer warren banks the second, a five year veteran--both out of the northeast district. and tonight family members of the woman killed in that crash say they blame those officers for her death. angel chiwengo was just 43 years old. she had been in the united states for just over a year. family members say she was being driven home by a co- worker when the accident happened. an accident her older sister learned about.... from her husband. and i'm jeff barnd..../ charges... are ... dropped ...against a parent... who questioned... common core ...curricula... in our schools. the state's attorney for baltimore county announced today he would not pursue charges against robert small. paul gessler is live from ridge ruxton school... where small was arrested last week. paul-- by now... many have seen the video of small speaking up at a forum here on thursday night. late this afternoon, state's attorney scott shellenberger said the officer acted appropriately and did have probable cause in the arrest. that a look for yourself. small: "they don't want to do it in public!"
