bay area. let's bring in our chief meteorologist jeff ranieri. happy monday to you. what do we have in store this week? >> we are looking at an active weather pattern coming our way. it will take some time for the rainfall to get here, so i wanted to go ahead and layout what we're looking at this week so you can kind of think about it and maybe any kind of plans you have. we have two different storm systems off to the north. these will move in wednesday into thursday. now, overall those song. what we'reelp to boost those rainfall totals is what is an atmospheric river, it is subtropical moisture, a ton of rainfall with this when the storm systems to the north interact with it, it, again, it help increase our totals across the bay area. that's why we have a flash flood watch issued from 11:00 p.m. tuesday into 8:00 p.m. thursday for the entire bay area. what does it mean for us? we could have some ponding on the roadways, creeks will be running very high, also some rapid rises on our river. here is an early look at what we are thinking right now. rainfall totals will

bay area. it is covered with water. it's not wet for everyone, though. this is the san mateo bridge. looks pretty dry for right now. >> yeah. >> but that will change, jeff it definitely will change tomorrow. the reason why we're seeing such drastic differences is the storm is actually stalling out over the north bay. that's what's increasing our flood threat. so the storm is mixing in with the atmospheric river and we have already seen 2 to 4 inches across the north bay, and we're going to see another couple inches as we move through tomorrow. so the highest flood threat is in the red. that's the flash flood watch. basically means that flooding can happen in a flash. in a split second, so you have to stay alert if you live near a creek, river or stream in marin, napa or sonoma counties. now, overall for the lower elevations we'll average for most of the bay area three quarters of an inch to 3 inches. the higher elevations in the north bay certainly are going to be in that 3 to 7-inch range. winds 30 to 50 mile per hour. we could see 4 feet in the highest elevation. when do we dry out. that's what you want to know. thursday and friday we'll get drying in
