i want to bring in jeff brooks here. we heard about 6,000 outages, customers without power in north carolina. i think that is mainly in the western part of the state. what can you tell us what is happening out there? >> as we saw the storm move further east and north, we're seeing the snow earlier changing over to freezing rain and sleet. and that is the recipe for increased outages. and we're up to 6,000 now and we expect the numbers to evening as the conditions worsen. >> would you expect that what the west is seeing now, we might start seeing in a number of hours? >> it's hard to tell with the ice storms and snowstorms, a few miles and few degrees can make a few difference. but i expect we'll see the conditions continue for several hours. and that can increase the amount of ice on limbs and you start to see the limbs coming out and create outages. >> we were talking a bit off camera. and it seems a little unique for this particular storm in north carolina, simply time that we're getting hit by this winter weather. it

joining us this morning is a jeff brooks from duke energy. jeff, when am i going to get my power back? >> leyla, sorry your power is still out, we are working really hard to get it back to you. i promise. >> i know. i know that you guys are not only working hard but have brought in additional resources. we heard the governor talk about that yesterday. the thousands of dollars you are spending to bring in extra resources to keep the roads safe and get the power back. talk to me about your greatest challenges right now. >> we have made great progress. we have restored more than 400,000 customers since the a lot of great customers but there are a lot that don't have power. they are called in frustrated and we will get there lights back on if we can. what we're looking at today is over about 14,000 customers in johnson county as well as other customers around the area. the challenge for us today will be we are getting down to those types of hours with a smaller number, four, five, six, seven, maybe 20 households, early restorations that were hundr
