charles: jeff, how do you explain the 10-year yield?ow could it come down so quickly after we got the wave of strong economic data it was telegraphing in the first place? >> that's a great question. i called a number of portfolio managers yesterday, posed that question to them. i got a bunch of answers like the fed will be easier than most people think. that inflation is going to be contained. none of the answers i got from any of the portfolio managers really worked for me in that it is very difficult to explain why interest rates are going down when the economy is strengthening. i have been in this business 52 years. i've been looking at markets for 56 years. this is kind of a conundrum and i can't explain it. charles: one thing that wasn't in your note but i got to bring it up, i kind of looked at this for a week or so. i'm getting the sense of surging covid-19 cases around the world, large populations, brazil, india, even our neighbor to the north, canada, how much impact is that having on the market, at least slowing the rally down

charles: right. by the way jeff you bring this up over and over again.d you come on the show so frequently just two weeks ago it was head for the hills. that is all she wrote. i told you it would come down. individuals feel that in a way so different. i would ask folks, what do you think the market is? most thought we were in a correction already. so what is going to change here? is there some major change? because you see the characteristics. they seem to change. you've been talking growth versus value. tech versus everything else. is there a change in leadership or something else about the composition of the rally? >> i think that people are overthinking this in terms of do we buy value, do we buy growth? i actually think you buy them all. secular bull markets everything tends to rise. we're in a secular bull market. the problem, charles, there are not many people like you and me have been around long enough to see a secular bull market before. in a secular bull markets you hold stocks and don't really trade them. charles: yeah. believe me, i tell folk

jeff. i want to go to charles of marina right now, former special agent himself. the system worked. an officer is dead but the system worked to keep any assailant from getting inside of the compound that we call the capitol. so in that sense, it was a success. this officer may be and potentially saved some lives with his sacrifice today. so charles, the next issue is whether even wider areas should be cordoned off. this was talked about after the january 6 attack on the capitol. i'm wondering now in light of this incident whether it will re-ignite those talks? we've seen sporadic incidents like this when you get close to the capitol, a woman a few years ago, prompted a lock down similarly before the january 6 developments. where do you think this is going as far as automobile access and close access to that at the capitol? >> yeah, neil. thanks. a tragic day nor the capitol police again and the country. so my thoughts and prayers are out with the capitol hill police. the capitol hill police went under a comprehensive review of the security processes and procedures. we saw the tempor

charles: another big corporate ceo making headlines today. jeffrastructure plan. now everyone is parsing his words. may have taken issue with the fact that the world's richest man has been mute on personal taxes and believes amazon would probably avoid higher taxes no matter what the rate is because of their deft use of loopholes. i want to bring in ironside director bear any knapp. while everyone is focused on bezos comments i want to focus on mark benioff's comments, that 28% would be too high. he lamented on global competition. your thoughts? >> there is a couple of important points here. i mean we didn't go from middle of the road competitive position in terms of corporate taxes to a very competitive position. we went from basically dead last, the highest statutory rate, second highest average tax rate and third highest effective tax rate in the world to the middle of the pack, something like 17 in the oecd. biden plan would take us back to the bottom of the barrel, basically the highest effective tax rate in oecd. so there is a real competiti

charles, one of the biggest winners had to be jeff bezos. i know amazon stock has made him obviously a billionaire many times over and a worth over $200 billion. the richest man on the planet. that is a nice backdrop, huh? >> it's an amazing backdrop. not long ago, i was looking at photos when they first started. if you would have said then what he has been able to create with his team now is absolutely remarkable. you know, after the third quarter, he's given up the ceo role, going to be the chairman. he's going out on just a magnificent high that really is unparalleled. when you go back to the robert barons and adjust for inflation, never anyone like jeff bezos. he's young enough and hungry enough to make his mark in other places. that's what he's looking for next. >> neil: so you know, it's interesting. we talk about amazon and the fact that he's embraced i believe tim cook at apple as well, the higher corporate rates that the president wants to push right now. the rates of 28%. how would it impact these guys? would they be able to sell a
