fox 29's jeff cole joins us now. ff, what did senator casey say about this report which as we've stabbed was scathing? >> certainly not happy about it lucy. as you can imagine the report is unacceptable according to the united states senator. he says that the va especially in philadelphia is not doing its job to provide veterans with a benefits they deserve. the report showed thousands of calls not being returned to veterans for over a year and also claims the va was manipulating dates, ignoring thousands of peaces of male and failing to document patients records in a time manner. in a press conference today senator casey demand the va act now to fix the problems with its playinged -- it's playinged with. he read parts of the letter they sent to the va. >> quote what specific actions are being taken to ensure issues of data manipulation, duplicate payments and delay in responding to inquiries from beneficiaries among other findings do not happen again? unquote. that's the main question that i asked them to respond to

fox 29's jeff cole joins us from the newsroom. ff, just the latest contract facing charges. >> reporter: this looks like a big boy probe of alleged corruption inside penndot in the philadelphia region. it burst into public view last year with arrests in an alleged over billing scheme. now the top man in an engineering firm is hauled in. his name is christopher solder the pennsylvania attorney general put a million bucks into this companies accounts through illegal contracts with penndot. he's alleged to cultivated a relationship way penndot official with unchecked power to a award contracts it's also alleged he was helping to write bridge cleaning inspection contracts he'd later win. here's what his lawyer had to say. >> they maintain an excellent reputation in this community and will continue to do so when we review anything we'll comment on and we look forward to the criminal justice process work working. >> reporter: in a later statement his attorney called the charges false and clad claim they're based on supposition. attorney

fox 29's jeff cole is live in our newsroom. jeff what else is this worker claiming?> reporter: he's claiming she defamed him actually. the former agent for the attorney general claude thomas spoke fox 29 investigate last april. did he not take part in any investigation that targeted members of his own race african-americans. now he sued the attorney general kathleen claiming she defamed him. thomas who asked that we not show his face back then because of his work in law enforcement told fox 29 undercover he was the driver for informant lee. driving a bmw he would take lee to meet politicians who were offered bribes in return for votes. attorney general kane shut down the probe claiming it was possibly racially tainted she also said she had statement in which thomas is quoted as saying he was told to target blacks. thomas argued last spring absolutely not true. >> i am extremely outraged that not only is my name now being mentioned, but it's being mentioned just to be tarnished. no one would again ever suggest or order me to target members of my own race or any race.

fox 29's jeff cole joins us now from the newsroom. it is a rather scathing report. >> reporter: it is. it's a big national issue simply is not going away and it's landed right here in the city of philadelphia. it is a blistering 78 page report detailing the long list of problems at the veterans affairs facility here in the city of philadelphia. among them mishandled or neglect the mail, map place of dates and millions of dollars in duplicate benefit payments. another big problem untimely responses to thousands of veterans. the report found that it took 312 days, 312 days on average for va employees to respond to inquiries. now that's way off what the va standard says it is which is typically it claims five days response. the audit is calling on philadelphia va to hold someone responsible for the massive failings va officials are reviewing all the infractions and their internal review will likely wrap up in late june unlikely to be quick enough for its many critics. iain? >> i'll take it back, jeff. >>> in bensalem two story duplex goe

jeff cole in the news rom tonight with a big ruling a judge made today. jeff. >> reporter: it is historic because this is a very high ranking member of the the church church. the judge sent monsignor william lynn back to jail after the separate state supreme court reinstated his child endangerment conviction over his handling of priest sexual abuse complaints. monsignor william lynn served as the secretary for the clergy at the philadelphia archdiocese from 1992 to 2004. he was in charge of investigating complaints of sexual abuse against priests. in 2012, he became the first u.s. church official ever purred and convicted for his role in supervising those priests. lynn has served 3.5 to six... key half of his 3.5 to six year sentence for child endanger. he's been on house arrest since the state superior courts toed his conviction. the state supreme court reverted that decision monday. they simply reversed it. so today the judge refused to grant a stay that would have allowed monsignor will lynn to remain free while he pursues other appeals. he's going to j
