collins. what's the word from the white house? >> jeff sessions was at the white house as donald trump september out the tweet criticizing him. i would like to note that andrew mccabe who donald trump said should have been fired is someone he interviewed for the position of fbi director after he fired james comey. putting that aside, sessions was at the white house. we do not believe he met with donald trump this morning. he was just here for a routine meeting. we don't even think donald trump was in the west wing at the time that that meeting occurred. what we're seeing overall is a game of chicken between donald trump and jeff sessions. the president is all but calling for jeff sessions to resign. sessions is staying quiet and putting his head down and continuing to do his work. we are seeing that donald trump is essentially alone in calling for jeff sessions to resign. sessions has received a lot of support from his fellow senators from when he was a senator before taking this position in the white house. even democrats are saying that

it came as attorney general jeff sessions was in el salvador and his justice department is conducting it's own crackdown. let's go to caitlin collinshat else do we know about the attorney general's trip? >> reporter: so jeff sessions travelled to el salvador this morning, he's meeting with lawmaker officials there on efforts to combat this famously brutal gang. he's going to meet with his salvador counterpart to zhusz, and also touring a detention facility while he's there. this gang has a big foothold in central america, but it's not just being discussed in central america. the acting i.c.e. director came out of daily press briefing here at the white house today to discuss administrations efforts to stop this threat of the ms13 gang here at home and to eliminate it's members from the united states. and as he spoke, he showed these photos of the gang members who have tattoos all over their face. you can see that it's essentially more ink than skin. above their eyebrows, cheekbones, and what not. they discussed that with reporters today, and then donald trump is also going to long island tomorrow on a trip to discuss further how to

"the washington post" is reporting that the russian ambassador told his superiors back in russia he did discuss the trump campaign last year and that was picked up from u.s. intel that contradicts what jeff sessions what are saying all along which is that he discussed nothing related to the trump campaign when he met with him and
