northern virginia bureau chief jeff goldberg has the deal reached in richmond. jeff: the deal is being hailed by governor terry mcauliffe and republican leaders as historic legislation. the governor saying earlier today he is confident that this new law will undoubtedly make virginians safer. but many gun control advocates say they feel betray and abandoned by governor mcauliffe. during a packed press conference this afternoon at the capitol, the governor standing shoulder to shoulder with g.o.p. leaders announcing the deal. the agreement still needs approval from the assembly reverses the ruling last month to end reciprocity for concealed carry in gun owners for 25 states with standards that are considered weaker than virginia's. instead, the new deal requires virginia state police to attend gun shows, to provide background check for private sellers who choose to screen potential buyers. the deal allows the state to take away firearms with people from two-year protective order for domestic violence crimes. opponentses of the deal say they sold them out but mcaul
