here to talk, about georgia's new governor, jeff duncan. lieutenant governor, duncan, appreciate you being with us. first of, all what do you make of what we heard from herschel walker today on hugh hewitt, and then's attempt to explain it afterwards? >> well, i think an important place for me to start us up there is no time for me to have to talk about this in such a direct way. you know, herschel walker, at the end of the day, is the only chance that we have got to have a republican in the u.s. senate, but it's a conversation that has to happen. and it is part of this process of our party healing. you know, this has not as much with herschel walker incidents the process we went through here in georgia to actually elect him. we didn't ask who was the best leader, we didn't ask who had the best resume. unfortunately, republicans look around to see who donald trump supported. and he was a famous football player. so he became our nominee. now we are paying the price for that. >> and that is why you think, i, mean that's what her to walker's i

we've got democratic strategist paul of the gala, jeff duncan and former congressman neil love. glad they're here to talk with us about this. what's your thought? how is this playing in georgia? >> well, it's certainly a tough time to be a republican in georgia. we should have two republican u.s. senators but unfortunately we lost in the runoff and now we are faced with a situation where certainly feels like herschel walker's way behind and falling even further behind. i think we have to get to a point where we stop translating honesty for weakness and i think once we figure out that we can be honest and still be strong, we will be better as a party. >> i am so confused about where republicans are with abortion right now. is it that it is okay if you like the candidate? that you are only against abortion if it is a democrat who gets the abortion? i'm so confused by all of the people were lining up to support herschel walker. >> it's just politics again at its worst. let me give you my perspective. it's this. when i was in high school, i wasn't as pro-life as i am today. it took

jeff duncan has been speaking out.ed saying the gop should never have bet on hershel walker. he writes, if we want the american public to take us seriously, we need to nominate candidates they should take seriously. charlie, this is the second highest-ranking republican elected official in georgia. how significant is it for him to be speaking out like this. >> first of all, i want to congratulate him for doing that. i applaud it. it was a great piece. i linked to it in my newsletter. he's not running for re-election again and jeff duncan is like liz cheney, kind of an outlier in republican politics these day. it speaks volumes to the fact that he is a little bit outside the mainstream of what the organized republican party is standing for. i applaud him speaking out, but i think it would be naive to think you're going to see any sort of significant break among elected republicans who after six years of donald trump have become used to ignoring these kind of scandals and reports of flawed character. >> there's been a lo
