jeff flock is at o'hare international airport in chicago. with kristina because she is outside. reporter: because it's cold outside. the snow has just stopped right now but it is still raining a few taxi drivers are saying it is crazy, very, very hectic to even get into laguardia airport but according to flightaware.com, they track flights, they say right now unfortunately the laguardia is the number one worst airport for flight delays in the united states followed by newark and o'hare. that means major economic woes for a lot of airlines. according to the faa it will cost each individual airline for every hour a flight is delayed, $4500. of course, passengers time is money. that means for each passenger about $63. a lot of passengers though seem to be optimistic. i spoke to one lady who says she rearen'ted her travel. listen. >> i got out of atlanta early today. so i got out on an earlier flight because i knew it would be a crazy mess when i got here. reporter: so that woman was playing it smart but i have to admit, i've been here all day.

transmission issues with the fiesta and the focus are now at the center of a class action lawsuit that jeff flockre fantastic vehicles but there may have been a hint of sarcasm there, ford has discontinued they sold so well they discontinued them but here it's about transmissions and about something called i want to get it right the dps dual clutch transmission. they were in both the ford focus , and the ford fiesta, model years 2011-2016. the employees are alleging that ford knew they had a terrible transmission, and they sold the cars anyway and said they were fine. here is some of what a former and current employees are saying employee described as a mechanical expert quoted in the detroit free press, everybody knew they had problems. they were rushing into production. things weren't ready yet. another described as a ford engineer. if you ask questions, you're accused of mutany so you put your head down, and make it work important to note these are anonymous quotes, although ford said who they were in terms of what they did, nobody has gone on the record yet. i will say this. this has already

jeff flock is at the o'hare airport this morning with the latest. how's it looking this morning?siest airports as you know and there's a line but you see it's moving through security at the united terminal. over the weekend, bad news in terms of cancellations and delays but take a look at the numbers today. actually not so bad. we're short of 200 delays so far nationwide and just a handful of cancellations. so that's in some ways great news. over the weekend, though, the scene in denver yesterday, one of the busiest travel days of the year and it was not pretty in denver, lots of snow there. speaking of snow, big blizzard conditions over the weekend, the dakotas, minnesota. back here in chicago, looking at the board right now, i don't know if you can see this, small print, old man. but even the new york airports, the flights leaving from chicago to new york, a all on time. albany is having problems right now. beyond that, i'll tell you, this could be worse. the worst was over the weekend. people are here but it's monday morning, it should be busy. if you're watching this on telev

i want to bring in jeff flock on this because are those two model s the focus and the class action lawsuite a part of the class action lawsuit. the transmissions were the problem apparently, stuart and just to point out both of these vehicles have been canceled by ford but we're talking about older vehicles and this has been an ongoing problem and ford admitted yeah, there were problems with the transmission it was called the dps dual clutch power shift transmission and it was in ford focus and ford fiesta models of small cars , and its sort of shifted even though it was an automatic it shifted a little bit like a manual transmission that felt that way a lot of people had problems adjusting to it and there were mechanical problems which ford at midded but the detroit free press talked to workers who said ford knew about this before it even launched. one guy told the paper, "my hands are dirty. i feel horrible. " he was one of the engineers on the project and to be fair to ford, they say and they gave us a long statement which i have here, and i'll just read the last part because that's the
