so jeff glor is with us. new winter storms affect and threaten tens of thousands of people. rain, snow freezing rain stretches for thousands of miles from california to south carolina. in the north people face dangerous windchills today. >> tennessee is under a state of emergency this morning nchl the past week there have been 22 weather-related deaths. nine of them are blamed on hypothermia. anna werner is in mop ter ray about 90 miles east of nashville. anna, good morning. >> reporter: well, good morning. you can see the damage that ice has done in many parts here. branches brought down by inch thick ice in many cases and power lines too. at one point over the weekend, more than 50,000 people were without power here. crews are working to turn on the lights for thousands of tennessee anans after trees buckled, taking down power lines with them. the extreme weather that tore through tennessee was too much for this portland building. it gave way over the weekend unable to withstand the snow and ice. and now executive director randy porter says the weather is posing a new thre
