jeff goldberg, abc 7 news. kellye: jeff, thank you. another sign of normalcy in baltimore, the mall is open. it was closed last monday after looters tore through the shops. mayor: it is such a dramatic difference from where it was monday. i'm so grateful because it shows the resiliency of our city. kellye: not every store has reopened. some have been heavily damaged. no timeline on when all the stores will reopen. earlier, atf agents were investigating baltimore's burned-out cvs pharmacy that was looted and set on fire last monday. the building has been condemned and police tape is still around the site. the atf is offering a $10,000 reward for information about the multiple fires that were set during the riots. baltimore police arrested nearly 500 people in the past week. 486 people were arrested for looting and breaking curfew. police said 100 13 officers were injured responding to the protests and riots. while the extent of the injuries is not known come a few days ago they said that 13 officers were heard to the extent they could n

jeff goldberg is live with what happened. jeff? jeff: this is just awful. this is willis memorial park where things were unfolding earlier this morning. authorities have taken down the swing where the child was found. a 3-year-old on the swing. just like this one. authorities say that the child was deceased when they arrived on scene. now here is what happened according to the charles county sheriff office. it was just before 7:00 this morning that the officers rived at the park after getting the call about a woman pushing a toddler in a swing for an unusually long period of time. possibly since yesterday. officers immediately noticed that the boy, 3 years old was deceased. the child was transported to the chief medical examiner's office in baltimore to determine the cause of death. now the 24-year-old woman who is the child's mother was taken to the charles county medical center for evaluation. >> hearing about that brings tears to my eyes because, you know, he was young. >> at this point there were no obvious signs of foul play. we have to wait until the

abc7's jeff goldberg was there and has this report. jeff: a spirited case this morning. the three judge panel asking a lot of questions. the panel will now decide whether or not to uphold or overturn this conviction. here now is video of governor mcdonald leaving the courthouse inside the courtroom, his wife maureen and four of the five children in attendance. mcdonald's lawyers argue he should not have been convicted and it should be overturned for two reasons. first, he took no official action on behalf of johnny williams. of course, the businessman at the center of the corruption scandal. the second argument being made from the defense is that judge james spencer did not sufficiently determine whether or not jurors formed opinions about the case and about the governor based on publicity ling up to the trial -- leading up to pusly of the trial. the governor and his wife were con victimmed of taking $180,000 of gift and loan from johnny williams. the former governor stands by the claims of innocence. >> the things done are routine political courtesy that every state off

jeff goldberg, abc 7 news. jummy: a man has been charged for a big destruction moments before the memorial day celebrations. the bomb squad detonated a pressure cooker found outside the u.s. capitol building. police blocked streets to investigate, but the concert went on just as planned. firefighters are investigating the explosion that destroyed a prince george's county building overnight. it happened around 11:00 on old baltimore pike in beltsville. john gonzalez is in beltsville with what happened. john: police of been protecting this area, keeping folks away. employees showed up, but they were turned around and told to take the rest of the day off because they're building is now condemned. fire investigators taking a close look at what appears to be a building explosion on old baltimore pike in beltsville at the eaton company. no injuries reported. it does not appear there was ever a fire. the fire chief says there was some sort of a gas explosion. it looks like it back wall and some of the roof has collaps

live in arlington, jeff goldberg, abc7 news. leon: thank you, jeff. right now we are waiting for a man accused of killing a rockville couple to appear in court. scott tomaszewski has a hearing scheduled in juneau, alaska, in the next 15 minutes. he is accused of murdering his neighbors vilardos a week yeah ago. police arrested tomaszewski on a cruise ship near alaska over the weekend. reporter kevin lewis is monitoring that and will bring us an update. alison: police chief tells abc7 investigators may be at the northwest house where four people were found dead last weekend. for another five days. brianne carter is live at the scene monitoring the new developments in the case. brianne: the chief telling abc7 they are following up on a number of leads. in the last hour they focused on the top window of the home. the chief saying they will look through the digital evidences and computer evidence video and d.n.a. you mentioned they may spend another five to seven days recovering evidence here that they say is a bit more challenging because of the fire. at

jeff goldberg just got out of the courtroom and is live with us now. >> we can tell you we just heard from the attorney who told us there is new forensic evidence that came to light in this case that made this case eligible for a capital murder case. what they done is taken the first-degree murder in the objection charges as well and upgraded them, making this case eligible for capital murder. that's a new forensic evidence and they were not discuss what that is. jesse matthew was was in court today, and grandparents were also in court today. he is being charged in the murder of anagram, she disappeared in december and her remains were found five months later. again, a very interesting development in this case. >> if this does not go to trial and they will seek the penalty. there is always this something that could happen in the interim. >> you never know what could happen but this case will be moving forward. she will seek the death penalty if and when it does go to trial. the next hearing in this case is on june 26. we do expect that jesse matthew will be having a date for trial. af
