northern virginia bureau chief jeff goldberg has the latest. jeff: graphic testimony in court today. detailing of 15-year-old damaris rivas, known as "alex" to family and friends. one of the defendants charged in the case is a 17-year-old girl who will be tried as an adult. according to the court testimony the defendants brought alex to an area near lake acotenk in springfield, virginia. she was forced to remove her shirt and shoes and was badly beaten and stabbed multiple times with fives and sticks. one investigator revealed the role of 17-year-old venus herreteta who herself went missing for a month around the time of the killing. according to the testimony, venus stabbed rivas 13 times and said, "i'll see you in hell." investigators say alex was targeted because the defendants blamed her for the death of christian sosa rivas 12 who was the boyfriend of iraheta. alex's mother was in court today and you could see her wipe away tears in the testimony. of the five defendants charged with murder, two of the cases were continued today. three will

jeff goldberg has new information about the victim. jeff? jeff: in the last 20 minutes we were able to confirm that the victim 65-year-old guy prudome was the president and the c.e.o. of columbia property capital. a real estate firm in d.c. up that driveway is his home. up that driveway is the home of the alleged shooter larry johnston. authorities say it was a dispute over the property line between the two homes that led to him being shot and killed. spotsylvania county sheriff arrived at the home yesterday afternoon at 1:00. and they found him lying in the driveway with a gunshot to his chest. the gunshot wound. johnston was taken into custody after authorities say he admitted to the shooting. at the time of the shooting landscaping crew doing work. the wives were also at the home as well. they had an ongoing dispute over the property boundary and they say that is what johnston -- what caused johnston to fire his handgun at prudome. >> i think his remorse was for the incident occurring and didn't happen in a different way. >> i don't under

nancy: jeff goldberg reports that the investigation started at a bank and ended up taking a surprisingturn. jeff: this is one of the largest organized crime operations they have seen in the county. it started with bank fraud here in the falls church and the alexandria sections of fairfax county. the scheme started in january 2015 when 12 to 14 suspects engaged in check-kiting at nine banks. they would write checks and take out money from accounts that had no available cash. then they bought cigarettes from the stores and then they were respecting vehicles to transport the cigarettes to new york. >> price of cigarette in richmond is low. price in the northeas extremely high. they will transport them up to new york and double the profit. it's extensive investigation and this is a very large group of people which is unusual. 19 of the individuals are in custody and the authorities are confident that they will catch the others. they brought in millions of dollars and a lot is unaccounted for. the federal authorities are looking into weather any of that money is linked to terrorism. jonatha
