jeff hager has more on the punishment. >> reporter: the self-proclaimed white supremacist received 30 years for the armed carjacking and beating in august of last year. 28-year-old calvin lockner used a stick to beat an elderly african-american man who had been fishing. 77-year-old james prevat lost some teeth and suffered a fractured eye socket. the defendant received an additional year on his sentence for throwing a cup full of urine and feces in the face of a correctional officer since his arrest. >> the state felt that the one year was an appropriate sentence to tack on to the end of what was considered to be the most serious -- not so say this case wasn't serious, what happened in jail but we did, we were able to get an additional one year justice for that assault of a corrections officer counted. >> reporter: the trial for another suspect in the beating and carjacking, zachary watson, was postponed today since his attorney is tied up with the ken harris murder trial. jeff hager, abc2 news. >> thank you. >>> four people were hurt in a crash today on route 50 in the annapolis area

jeff hager has details on the plea agreement for the hate crime. in >> reporter: like many fisherman in form armistead park james privott finished casting his lines, packing up to head home with his wife when three men approached. 28-year-old calvin lockner beat him about the head with a stick and stole his chevy tahoe, unaware it was equipped with low jack which would lead police to his door. the self-professed white supremacist who idolized adolf hitler later told police he didn't like black people. now he's learned the punishment for the hate crime. >> judge williams sentenced calvin lockner to the 31 years in prison today. >> reporter: a spokesman for the state's attorney's office, says 30 years is the penal for the carjacking. which will run concurrently with convictions for the assault and hate crime. lockner will serve an additional year for assaulting a correctional officer. throwing a cup filled with urine and feces into his face while he was behind bars. the victim of the beating suffered a fractured eye socket, temporary blindness and mi

jeff hager is there in parkville. he's been out all evening long? >> reporter: he has been. he spent 16 years on the baltimore county council. joe is understandably out at the polls pushing it to the end hoping to be a visible presence in the last two hours of polling. earlier today, he got up at the crack of dawn much like you would expect a longtime farmer to do, went out to cast his vote at the fullerton firehouse. since that time his campaign tells me he has about a thousand volunteers that have been working both the polls, precincts throughout the county and running trucks with campaign signs around the baltimore beltway. honest joe as he calls himself has run a relentless campaign of knocking on doors and trying to pick up supporters face-to-face. campaign workers here seem under deterred by the fact this fellow councilman kevin kamenetz outraised him in donations and outspent him in advertising by a 4-1 margein. workers take heart even with the slight voter turnout based on facebook. we're told in the last 18 hours joe has had a flurry of activity, a number of support

we begin with jeff hager at the bartenfelder camp in parkville tonight. >> reporter: if you're looking for honest joe don't look here. he's out there at the precincts, he's been working them all day. to that end we understand he's continuing this same line of campaign, door-knocking, putting shoe leather to concrete, old school traditional campaigning if you like that we've seen for the past few months. earlier today the candidate stopped off to cast his own ballot, that was at the fullerton firehouse and since that time he's been hitting polling places, we understand, across the county. perry hall, dundalk and parkville. greeting voters also in overlea, milford mill, randallstown, edgemere, wherever he can find the meager number of voters that are out today. bartenfelder is taking on his longtime fellow baltimore county councilman, chairman kevin kamenetz and honest joe has prided himself on running a clean campaign. he maintains, while his opponents try to tie images even of the bp oil spill to joe's environmental record. kevin kamenetz outspent bartenfelder 4-1 on advertising while
