jeff. i'll see you there tomorrow, i hope. use jeff said the weather is politics, and this is "inside politics" let's go to the cnn weather anchor and correspondent, alisa rafah is tracking all of it. what do we see when it comes to what to expect not just today but this weekend and most importantly on monday, caucus day. >> we are looking at temperatures not breaking 0 degrees on caucus today. today we have blizzard conditions out there. there were a couple of events happening today, not happening. look at the orange warning there. you have 4 to 8 inches of snow, plus 45-mile-per-hour gusts blowing around snow, dropping visibility making things very dangerous. we have heavy snow in des moines. windchill is 4 degrees, warm compared to where we are going. you have windchills already 40 below zero in northwest iowa. that's because we have arctic air spilling into the northwest, taking the wind chills to dangerous levels. we are talking wind chills as cold as minus 45 going into monday. you can get frost bite in 10 minutes or less

i mean, what are they ready to do, jeff? >> well, it was amazing to talk to them after they had their training, so their game plan was to go door knocking and erin, look, there were a bunch of people here from around the country including texas and florida, welcome to minus 26 windchills. some of them were telling me they were probably going to call iowans on the phone instead, but some hearty souls would get out there and door knock for ron desantis. one of the things i found interesting is they were told that they were hoping the desantis campaign was hoping that the trump supporters would get complacent because again, poll after poll has him up on desantis by 30 points. maybe it's too cold for the trump supporters to get out tonight and desantis pulls a surprise. that was their message to the desantis turnout crew to get them all fire up and out there. >> important that you say they're there, and they're coming from florida to do this and he's got the passion on his own team, but ron, desantis had for a long time because

jeff, i want to ask you about trump's republican challengers.ow are they responding to all of this? they could be using this to go after him. it doesn't seem like they are. >> they aren't. the reason why is because, in order for them to increase their political standing in iowa, new hampshire, south carolina and beyond, they have to break their own ceilings and attract more support from the trump base if they were going to make a serious challenge against him. so that's one of the reasons why, for this entire campaign, you really haven't seen nikki haley or ron desantis really distinguish themselves from donald trump on the basis of his actions on january 6th or any of the criminal and civil proceedings against him. so on this issue, they are really echoing him and supporting him and going even really beyond that. you heard desantis and haley say if the former president is convicted and they happen to win the presidency, that they would pardon him. so there really is no real light between the positions that the former president is making and hal
