meteorologist jeff jamison from our dallas station ktvt has the latest on this catastrophic storm. good morning, jeff. >> good morning. we're looking at the center of harvey, off to the southwest of the houston area. the heaviest of the rain early this morning has shifted east of houston, but there are still showers developing in and around the city. and that's going to continue to cause problems throughout the day today as rescue officials and other folks trying to get to folks who are in need. the heaviest rain is to the east of the houston area over toward beaumont. the movement will be slow. what has already fallen is almost historic at this point, well over, sometimes 25 inches of rain reported in southeast texas. additional rainfall throughout the day today and really for the rest of the week. you can see by tomorrow, or into wednesday, we're looking at an additional seven inches of rain in the houston area and by friday we're talking about almost an additional 12 inches. that's on top of what has already fallen there in southeast texas with this catastrophic flood as harvey s

anne-marie. >> meteorologist jeff jamison in dallas. thank you so much, jeff. >>> houston's flood control system is no longer in control. two reservoirs overflowed and a levee failed. engineers released water from two reservoirs to ease the strain, and that sent even more water into neighborhoods that are already flooded. the reservoirs are at record highs. one of those killed during the storm was a veteran houston police officer. 60-year-old sergeant steve perez became trapped in high water while trying to get to sunday. >> it was too treacherous to go under and look for him, so we had a decision to leave officers there waiting until the morning because as much as we wanted to recover him last night, we could not put more officers at risk. >> perez had been on the houston police force for 34 years. >>> president trump is scheduled to return to texas saturday. mr. trump visited the storm zone yesterday, stoppinging in corpus christd i aninaust. >> we're going to get you back and operating immediately. it is epic what happened. but, you k

. >>> jeff jamison of our dallas ft. worth station is tracking the storm, jeff, good morning. >> good morning, harvey makes another u.s. land fall as the tropical storm this time. near cameron, louisiana. you could see a lot of rain spreading on the west side of that storm. southeast texas getting pounded by torrential rainfall this morning. the land fall of tropical storm harvey had winds around 45 miles an hour. that storm will slowly weaken during the day today. still forecast to be a tropical storm and central louisiana later this afternoon, and then become a depression late tonight and will move actually all the way up to kentucky by this weekend. it's going to take tha rainfall with it during the day as well. again, southeast texas getting pounded right now. i think it's central louisiana during the day today that may pick up an additional five to ten inches of rain. then as that storm continues to move north by the time you get to the end of the week. and we've seen incredible rainfall already, it's between 25 to 3

. >>> meteorologist jeff jamison of our dallas-ft. worth station ktvt is tracking the storm. , good morning. >> good morning. harvey is still a tropical storm, even though it's made its way inland by about 40 miles in southwestern louisiana, just to the west of lake charles, louisiana. all that rain in southeast texas, including orange and port arthur, in some cases it's totaling over 40 inches since the storm began. and today the storm will continue to move north. by this afternoon, still a tropical storm across central louisiana, and by tonight it's weakened into a depression up in northern louisiana. by the weekend, this storm in a weakened state will be across parts of tennessee and kentucky and spread heavy rain all the way up the path through the weekend. now, we are looking at the rain continuing, especially on the west side of the circulation. so that means far east texas today, western louisiana could add another 5 to 10 inches of rain on top of what's already fallen right now. that rain will continue to push well up to the north and toward memphis and northern missis
