tech investor, jeff lewis, going to say, happy thanksgiving to you, as a fellow canadian. thanks for being with us >> happy thanksgiving. thank you. >> appreciate it >> your message here is essentially be careful, there's a bunch of tech companies that have gone public over the last few years in a much different interest rate environment, and you think a lot of them just can't hack it. >> i mean, that's the reality. the reality is over the past several years, we had really a sort of nigh, they felt asset prices didn't matter on the way up that led to an insane tech bubble all of these tech companies got crazily overvalued so many crap companies went out in 2020, 2021. now we're on the other side of that, and most of these companies that went public overs past several years are never even going to be worth their initial offering price there are a few narrow areas where investors look, but in general, we're dealing with a n -- out of control that's my view. >> valuations have gone below their ipo prices where do valuations start to look attractive, and isn't what you're desc

joining us now is jeff lewis, director of the east asia non-proliferation project.t do you make in this increase? >> i think the north koreans are not interested in talking. talking time is over. we saw that several year period of diplomacy during the trump administration, it failed. kim jong-un for the past year and a half, two years has been signaling that they are going to be in a period where they are modernizing and expanding their nuclear and missile capabilities. i think that's what we find our services now in the middle of. >> how concerned are you about a nuclear test given the construction, the satellite photos show construction around the tunnels for a potential test, perhaps after the china party congress? >> there's going to be a nuclear test. we saw earlier in this year north korea started putting that test sight together. north korea had blown up the tunnels, then they reopened them. they have been rebuilding buildings. we don't know how long it's going to take them to get the site back together. they had to take a break because it rans cats and dogs

jeff zeleny. and errol lewis and the former republican congressman charlie dent. jeff, i want to begin with the prediction from president biden that we just heard that we'll see a shift back to democrats in the democrats' favor in the days leading up to the midterm elections. is that wishful thinking on his part. >> it is certainly optimistic on the president's part. but that is -- he's the leader of the party. would you expect him to have a optimistic message in the final couple of weeks. but there is reason to doubt that. the economic head winds and the inflation are quite strong as i travel across the country talking to voters. there are deep pocketbook concerns and issues. the president and the white house, they certainly are doing many things to try to show they are in control but the reality is that spending is a big concern on the minds of voters. so a lot of the help they are giving people, student loan debts are controversial in the sense that the government is spending so much money which is contributing at least to a small degree or a degree to inflation
