jeff martinez joins us. >> since 1934 we broke the record for daily rainfall and also in oakland with more than half an inch of rain. many areas picking up three-quarters to an inch stretching all the way down to the south. so you can see light to moderate rain going on in most areas and heavy rain as we head further to the south. from salinas and down to the south, monterey bay we'll zoom in and coming down in santa cruz. we're expecting perhaps two to three inches of rain up in the higher mountains, santa cruz mountains and down in the lower valleys at least two inches of rain. slowly pushing to the east. now, here is the culprit. very unusual for this time of the year. we have a big ridge of high pressure but a huge storm system continues to push moisture into our area and it will be with us for the next 48 hours. we should get a little bit of break as the cold front moves through. hopefully the giants can get their game off today but showers will pick up once again tonight. >> san francisco firefighter clings to life after being badly burned in a house fire that killed his colleag
