jeff mason? >> well, i think the viewer is right that trooth matters regardless of who the president is. it is our job as journalists to tell the truth. it's our job as journalists to seek the truth, as we're doing our reporters. and i think that that's what journalists broadly are doing. but the caller is right to say that that is important and it is incumbent upon reporters here in washington and elsewhere around the country and the world to uphold that mission. >> what do you think about "the new york times" running an ad where they have to go out and say that and "the washington post" changing its masthead on its online version? >> i have to let those two newspapers speak for themselves. i think it's important regardless of who the president is and our in addition as journalists whether we cover the white house or coffer an agency or cover a small town is to tell the truth and to make sure that that is a part of what we do everyday. >> jeff mason is with reuters. how long have you been coveri

joining us once again, jeff mason and president of the white house correspondent, rich lowry. f "national review." jeff, give us a sense. are there restrictions that you did not experience with the obama administration? >> you know that i would say that there are always difficulties covering a new administration. and we expected the transition to be difficult. there is a new team that has not been in the white house as long as the previous administration, obviously. some growing pains. that said we have had pretty good access to the president and the purse two weeks of the administration. that is good. you ask about frustrations. i will tell you that i did not expect to have some of the discussions that we have had to had in terms of making sure that we stay in the press room. making sure that a press pool continues to cover the president. but we have had those discussions in a construction way. the outcomes have been positive. >> jon: let me read two more quotes from the michael wolf piece. the media's take on the trump administration, he writes that the media's view is that t

. >> jeff mason. >> thank you. can you give us an updade on the administration's plans with regard to -- can you confirm that there is -- has been some disagreement between victsecret devos on this issue? >> the president is a firm believer in states rights. when you look at the guidance, let's remember to the best of my knowledge, that was stalled, never fully implemented. i think there were various reasons for that. several legal reason and several procedural reasons. the department of education, the department of justice both who jointly issued that guidance back during the obama administration are working together again under a trump administration, they have been reviewing the guidance signed, the basis by which it was put through, and i think there have been several areas of concern both legal and procedural that they have been discussing. and i think where you might be hearing something is more on the timing and the wording of stuff, the conclusions, everybody in the administration is agreed upon. there is n
