let's turn things over to chief meteorologist jeff ranieri. he has been watching things closely. jeff, what can you tell us? >> right now the storm system has been weakening over the past 24 hours. it has winds at 75 miles per hour, making this a minimal category 1 storm. and at the current track, again, the big island is expecting the largest hit from the storm system. you can see we are expecting it to make landfall just south of hilo. likely at the hawaiian volcanos national park. anywhere from 11:00 hour to 1:00 a.m. and again, this is expected to continue to move inland with the strongest impact right across the big island. as we get a look at the forecast track, what you're going to see as we head throughout friday's forecast, it hangs on across the big island through 5:00 a.m. and then as it exits, the center of the storm will be south of maui, south of honolulu and south of kauai. those areas will get lashed with wind and also some rain. but the worst of it again will stay offshore at this point. and that's going linger all the way through friday night. and then once that

jeff ranieri is joining us. and it's going to be hot. >> a lot of you are probably griping at the tv right now but it's going to be another hot one. this is now updated as of this afternoon. i want to show you the progression of how the drought has gone and just as expected it is now at the worst levels all year long. we can see in april we have exceptional levels of drought. it's the worst level of drought that is possible here and that was across the south bay and also parts of the peninsula and a good portion of southern california. as we headed into may, we saw it increase into alameda and contra costa county. by june, it engulfed more in northern california and then as we head into the current date, check out the red there in the exceptional level. that pertains to 58% of california that is now in that exceptional level. so again, the drought continuing to get worse just as expected. as you take a look outside at the sky network camera, it has cooled off a little bit from some of the hottest temperatures of
