jeff ranieri following the fire this whole afternoon. and jeff, we have seen temperatures near 100 degrees. fortunately has gone down just a tiny bit right now. >> we have seen temperatures begin to cool down a few degrees, but still very hot on the fire lines. right now, 90 degrees at the location of this fire. the thing that has also been helping firefighters is the wind, south-southwest at 6. so generally light. that's why you're seeing smoke go straight up into the atmosphere. however, within the fire, we expect erratic winds that could be 20 to 25 miles per hour. dangerously low humidity. temperatures in the 80s at 7:00 tonight. as we get into the location of the fire, right here at loma prieta, up at about 3,500 feet. and two of the areas of biggest concern continue to be cost at that loma road and loma which i keita road where the doppler radar is picking up the heaviest smoke and, of course, also the fire moving in that direction. i also want to alert our viewers in morgan hill, also down at gilroy, this plume of smoke likely coul

jeff ranieri is tracking the storm and joins us with more on its path. jeff. >> right now, hermine is able to hold on to its strength because you it is so close to the atlantic. some of the circulation around this is able to pull up the warmer weather to continue to fuel this storm. it is a tropical storm, winds at 50 miles per hour, central pressure 995 milobars. this will remain a tropical storm through tomorrow as it pushes into north carolina, it will last not only into saturday along the eastern seaboard but also possibly into next monday. even though it exits south of delaware by saturday night, it may restrengthen to a hurricane again by monday. we could be talking about this storm system all the way into mid, late next week. if you are headed to the east coast this weekend, you really need to watch out, especially here where we have this bulls eye of heavy rain for the carolinas throughout delaware. g go to hawaii, right now looks like they've been missed by what could have been a direct hit by hurricane lester, but watch the path closely. >> high
