jeff ranieri joins us now. i guess it's going to make it right there on the edge, but it could make landfall in the carolinas? >> it's a close call for a lot of the eastern seaboard. we'll start off with a look at the tropics and what you'll be able to see here is the path in case you missed this earlier. it's a category two, right now parallel with georgia's southern coastline, moving up here right past south carolina as a category two and possibly landfall near cape hatteras, winds of about 100 miles per hour. with that storm moving in, two to seven inches of rainfall. the worst impacts right at the immediate coastline. winds of 140 miles per hour and a storm surge of three to seven feet. we'll have more updates on twitter and facebook. across the bay area, it was definitely ier today. we've been talking about the humidity for days now, and it arrived with this southerly push of moisture. we did have a little bit pop right there. and as we hit thursday's forecast we'll see more thunderstorms contained to the

chief meteorologist jeff ranieri is tracking our changing weather. jeff? >> and very, very slowly, those numbers are starting to drop. the official numbers are now in, and one of the hottest day was santa rosa at 105, smashing the old record of 98 degrees. concord a new record at 99. san francisco, 94, beating the old of 93 set way back in 1954. san jose, 99. that is also a new record. so where are we right now with the temperatures? slowly beginning to drop. 93 in napa. 85 in san francisco. and 96 in san jose. i want to get a closer look at the ocean breeze. it is moving out of the west at 18. so this is also beginning to bring some changes. it's not very large right now, but you can see in san francisco to oakland, we're 1 to 2 degrees cooler, and that is just the indication here that the ocean breeze is beginning to pick up. now through tomorrow, not quite as hot. 11:00 in the morning, we're in the 70s to 80s. we'll talk about this cooling system and how much it drops temperatures over the next couple of days in about 15 minutes. >> okay. we'll see you

our chief meteorologist jeff ranieri joins us now with the updated timeline and path. what are you seeing, jeff? >> this storm's been going strong now for at least ten days. indicator nt look at the on hurricanes whether they're weakening or strengthening is the eye of the hurricane. ife eye, the center sll have a here that's continuing to hold its strength. and there you can see the eye of the hurricane just offshore of georgia and south carolina. winds at 115 miles per hour. this will bring impacts. even though it is not nearly as strong as it was when it hit the bahamas. we're looking at a landfall maybe tomorrow near wilmington as the category 2 winds right around 105 miles per hour. then maybe an additional landfall near cape hatteras. also winds at 100. i'm seeing rainfall estimates two to seven inches. winds anywhere from 40 to 100 miles pr hour at the beaches and a storm surge of three to seven feet. we'll have your bay area forecast and the big change i'm tracking for this weekend. that's in about ten minutes. >> okay. an>> they say they were attacke, raped, an

. >> jeff ranieri is with us. some key concerns. which cities are under this fire warning and how dangerous will it be these next 24 hours? >> specifically i want people to think if they live in the hills a thousand feet or above, that's where dger will be the highest. you can see the areas in red. what i'm seeing are wind gusts of 20 to 40-miles-per-hour on. and off gusts possible tuesday and went. sustained winds headed 20 miles per hour and humidity around 10%. i want to get you a closer look at the specific cities and you'll see in the north bay. it is for the hills around santa rosa. napa, novato, right over to the east bay, oakland, lafayette, moraga, fremont, and in the south bay, to the eastern side of san jose for morgan hill and gilroy. so on top of that, we have the ni. when you step out the door. 70s from the north bay to the south bay. and look at this. by lunch time. downtown san francisco could be up to a hot 88 and 90s inland and that's not even the daytime highs. i want to turn our tacks on jean. are people nervous

jeff ranieri is joining us. today we're going to look at our coasts and begin with florida. >> this is an area that is already seeing impacts right now. as we start off and look at the east coast. the big issue in florida is the sea level rise. and this has already been measured with some real things happening right now. during a regular high tide, some of the flooding that does occur rivals a category one hurricane. that's every single day. we could see another half foot rise in the next 15 years, and of course this means a higher danger from hurricane storm surges if a hurricane were to hit florida. now we've been highlighting a lot of these spots all around the globe, but what's happening right here in the bay area. i wanted to show you a list of some of the things that have been measurable base the on 30-plus years of climate data. you can see the temperature has increased 1.7 degrees since 1950. coastal fog overall less frequent. a bay level sea rise of 8 inches in 100 years. 2012, lowest moisture levels in

jeff ranieri tracking dorian's path. what are you seeing over the next 24 hours? >> well, the really good news is that it took that key turn to the north today. that's really what we had been waiting on over the past 24 hours. as you mentioned, pulling away from the bahamas. look how dangerously close it is to florida. 113 miles away from the central coast of florida. even a little jog here off toward the west and those impacts could be even higher. but at this point based on the data we have, it would go parallel to florida as we continue through wednesday's forecast, winds of 110 t0 mis p. as a category 2 hurricane. now, we will not be totally free from impacts in florida. rain, 2 to 7 inches. wind gusts, 30 to 70 miles per hour on the immediate beaches and storm surges still of 3 to feet. that's why there are some evacuations in place at this hour. we'll have more details on a carolina landfall and when that could happen coming up in about ten minutes. >> okay. thanks, jeff. see you soon. another great resource is jeff's twitter feed. he just tweeted about that
