we had jeff tumlin present to us, but this body didn't tackle that, like, the downtown can't recover and our city as a whole can't recover unless people feel safe using transit. so i just wanted to give something on youth and families and the community hubs that you've probably read about. like, there's a whole -- we've heard and read about that information, but there is a whole effort there on homelessness and essential government function. like, there's a lot of groups. i love the report, too, but i think it's a piece of the pie, and i think it's really important that our city stakeholders, you know, pay attention in the months ahead and look to see how the mayor and our board weave together those various facets of recovery planning, of which this is one component. there are so many, and to see how -- to look that balls like that don't get dropped. i wouldn't expect that they would. that's one piece of it to see on which exactly pieces get picked up as priority from that leadership perspective. and then, you know, i think it happens often in government and augments things -- and th

jeff tumlin has been somewhat, i would say, truthfully supportive. as i stress to him from the beginning, communication is key in the organization over 6000 and transparency. most i want to thank donte' king for his work. wearing five hats, one person, i was surprised they didn't have a nervous breakdown. we have to have adequate staffing. he did not. i ask more than three times mr. tumlin and ms. kimberly ackerman when that position will be filled. lot of progress was made with donte' king. he touched on subjects that normally and now still make people uncomfortable even though he provided extremely high quality education information and helped us come together as a team as coworkers to without rancor, understand and become educated as how racism works, how systemic and built-in it is in the sfmta. i totally support the infinity groups with their work. i support the plan but there's much more work and accountability to believe that. thank you. >> chair borden: thank you so much for calling in. next speaker please. >> hello sfmta board of directors.

jeff's report. sorry about that. director tumlin? >> greetings. so at our last board of directors meeting, one of the things that we talked about was how eagerly we were awaiting the results of the november election. some of the results were excited, but arguably, the results for the future of the sfmta remains in the balance, which is the balance of the senate. all of that is contingent in the senate race in georgia, which is whether we'll have to be able to -- we'll be able to maintain our services or whether we'll have to cutback significantly. one of the things that we've learned this week is that the news continues to worsen for the san francisco general fund. most of the city's sources of revenue are tracking at or below the worse case scenario projections, so we were told we need to accommodate another $34 million in reductions in the sfmta budget. the voters successfully passed the measure rr, the caltrain one cent sales tax in all three counties. that will start to bring in new revenue to caltrain, to the tune of about $100 million per ye

i agree that the ombudsperson should go directly to jeff tumlin. i no you took this on. i know you're capable. i know you can do it. your spirit is good. i know you can handle it. also, i think that h.r. should not be sole arbitrator to develop r.e.a.p. anything having to do with conducting any type of planning to address the deloris blanding issues that not covered by the feds. i have yet to hear any details regarding areas of concern in the workplace that are not covered by these categories. that i would like to see a plan, including the infinity group's involved planning and addressing that issue. that's a real deep one you have to dig deem. you're going to need infinity group to help you. i don't think you'll be able to get all the nuances. you've only been here a year. that does not mean that you're not good or capable. that means that you need their history and experience. that's why we're here. we're here to make things better for everyone. i like to thank president borden for the question that affects -- cover issues that are right. >> chair borden: sorry your ti

it was in 2019 that then private citizen jeff tumlin proposed the change.y said nothing and did nothing, but i told them this is out of bounds, out of sync. it doesn't make sense for what was being proposed, so m.t.a. has been unresponsive to this. i also want to say that the planning that went into this showed safeway was not considered. there was initially a plan to extend a low boarding platform south on church street to construct a high boarding platform. that would have blocked the entrance at reservoir way. only when i talked to the director of transit planning personally, in the presence of other seniors, did he say oh, and they started to realize they didn't need to do that. i'm a private citizen, i'm making comments and suggestions that, frankly, rebut their planning and improve the process. similarly, the stopping of the j-church at church and market after it went to bus only service was nonsensical. they could run it up one more block and allow people getting on the bus at church and 14. the planning that's gone into this is unprofessional, ineff

calling to alert you of the related action by the sfmta board -- not the board, excuse me, but jeff tumlinand his righthand woman kate torren that i sometimes call the donald trump of the taxi industry. i'm sorry to put it that way, but the thing is this she announced yesterday through an email that they want to restrict access to airport pick-ups to purchased medallion holders. they had threatened to do this previously, but why now? the medallions that are required after 1978 and before 2010, are only one out of every six to nine cabs that leave the airport with a fare. and so because there were 49 foreclosures in the last three months, the credit union foreclosed on 49 medallions. and the question is whether restricting access to the airport to purchased medallions is the solution? it is not. it's the fact that business has slowed down at the airport and the number of vehicles that are returning from short fares that get fundable access, you know, has almost doubled since the beginning of the pandemic due to the fact that the nearby hotels don't run their shuttles very often, especially
