[applause] >> j. tumlin: thank you, mayor breed. the success of muny and small businesses are inextra bli linked. they're there because there is a muni line there. small businesses depend on mobility to get their customers and goods delivered to the districts and muni depends on the riders that we generate. here in san francisco, we're challenged by some of the greatest amount of work from home. our downtown stations are only at 35% of their pre-covid ridership. in our neighborhood commercial districts, almost all of our lines are back at pre-covid ridership and some are as high as 130% of pre-covid ridership in part because of the creativity and importance of our neighborhoods. we understand that our future is dependent upon small business success and we're eager to learn from janet and the community in which janet knows through the city in order to help us be better, how do we make the mobility system work safer. how do we make it easier for people to get around by all modes of transportation and how do we foster commercial succes

so, at this time i want to introduce jeff tumlin to talk in detail about the exciting numbers and changes to muni and to say thank you to all the folks joining us here today. [applause] >> thank you mayor london breed and thank you for everything that you have done over the last 4 years in order to a stronger muni. it is no secret that muni is facing challenges. we are still in the worst financial crisis that this agency has faced in entire history, over a hundred years. we are also still suffering from the fact that there is no city in the world more impacted by covid era work from home policies then san francisco. at our downtown rail stations like montgomery and embarcadero, the ridership is only at 35 percent pre-covid level but thanks to the talent of all around me, we succeeded retooling muni for today's current travel patterns and the results are far more successful then we had thought possible. we have had a relentless focus on making sure that muni is fast, frequent, reliable, safe, and clean. we made muni faster and more frequent because investing in transit priority. over the l

we need to stop and reconsider and give everybody a voice instead of just park and rec, jeff tumlin, phil ginsberg, ramming this through on the people who live out here and who are going to have to put up with thousands of cars in front of our houses once they get this closed. so, please, do something here that we can slow this down so that the environment has a chance. thank you. >> thank you. we are going to try samsung sm again. please go ahead. >> hi. like i listened to you and i live 4 blocks from the beach, and the bicycle riders have destroyed this neighborhood. i don't even go near that part of the city anymore. i cannot even drive anywhere. 19th avenue, sunset boulevard and sloat boulevard are jammed and lincoln are jammed with cars because of this. i can no longer ride a bisical or a scooter because i have arthritis and bad 92 knee and taking away the road for the privileged bicycle riders is outrageous. the whole neighborhood is suffering and those speed bumps, they hurt people with arthritis and disability. the entitled bicycle coalition is funded by the city, they don't

but another one i wanted to point out, is dixit weeks and i know jeff, or excuse me, director tumlin brought up in this directory report, this friday is yet another fixit week, these have really been a game changing way, to address service and really reduce the number of, of incidents that we've been having in the subway. so, as muni gets better in general, equity strategy neighborhoods are better off, just for a minute, talking about headway management, you know, there's very few agencies. we were one of the few and biggest, agencies in north america to start, headway management really shifted a lot of our work to the tmc and are able to spread out on the service much better than before. we've actually got some numbers that will go over here a little bit later in the presentation on, on how how well, our operations teams actually doing on, on spreading those, those headways, we also do focus line workshops. most of the muni forward and service work that my group does is external facing, doing a lot of work with stakeholders and community members and riders, to make the transit syste
