book "jefferson city at work" highlighting local veterans. i also did a book called "the lucky ones t." it was a biography about a paint destroyer gunner in world war ii . this is the first biography, it was a learning experience. i spent a lot of time with norbert girling. after the book was released in 2016, he passed away. very difficult experience for me, because i had become very close to this world war ii vet. there was the realization that our world war ii vets are getting up there in age and departing at a quick rate. that is not to say anything jim, because he is going to be here until he is 150 years old. he has already promised me. i was thinking, jim's story stayed in the back of my mind because it was so fascinating. this facet of american history that is not often told from the perspective of the enlisted member, the mechanics. the movies often highlight the officers and the pilots. myself, having been a staff sergeant, i am biased to the enlisted stories anyhow. the enlisted guys do all of the work. we know that.
