and when it comes to masks, jefferson county does have a mask mandate, but the secretary of state hase out and said that election officials cannot require voters to wear masks in order to cast a ballot, so while they are strongly encouraged, they are not required. and we have for the most part seen people here wearing masks, they said out of respect for others. there was an attempt to make bigger changes to the process in this state. and voting rights advocates have been in court battles with the state of alabama to allow for one curb side voting. and also to wave some requirements for absentee ballots here. the supreme court has blocked the attempt to make those changes, that court case is still being fought and we'll see what that means for november. as of today, no curb side voting. when it comes to absentee ballots in the state, in order to mail that in, you need two witnesses and you need a photocopy of your photo i.d., so those requirements are still in place. though the secretary of state said you can use covid as an excuse to receive an absentee ballot, still what all of that
