jeffrey fowle. who is he and how did he wind up in north korea? >> it is unclear. he is a tourist from ohio and father of three and one of three americans who have been held in north korea. he was held since april for leaving the bible, which you said, which is a violation of korean law, but not as much of a violation as some of the others they have claimed against kenneth bay who has been there now for several years and is in declining health. the u.s. in announcing this today from the white house said that they still want matthew miller and kenneth bae, two other americans being held here. clearly a signal from north korea and negotiated by swedish diplomats who represent the united states since we do not have diplomatic relations with the north and that it was by a pentagon plane, which came in, landed at the international airport in pyonyang and took him out and he's on his way home via guam. >> you did have a u.s. government plane able to fly in and take him out of there. the u.s. has been trying to, as you said, seek the release of these other men. the high-l

why decide to release jeffrey fowle now? >> i think we're going to see people break down into two groups. one will be the desire for engagement by north korea and the others will be seeing it more as a result of north korea's isolation and pressure. on the engagement side, people see this as a way of reaching out to the united states, reducing an amount of friction that washington identified as a necessary step for improving the atmosphere of any kind of negotiation. whether the other two americans are released, we don't know. they, unlike fowle, were convictedly north korean courts is a that would make out more difficult. on the other hand, maybe north korea is trying to stop the movement of the human rights violation. there's a movement now for a resolution for additional actions. >> how do you know what's really going on? you as somebody who worked in the c.i.a. used to gathering intelligence on north korea. >> north korea was referred to as the c.i.a. as the hardest of the hard targets. in often cases a wilderness of mir
