jeffrey kofman, following the saga of those 33 trapped miners in chile, tells us they had reason to cheer>> reporter: elizabeth was almost eight months pregnant when the mine collapsed, trapping her husband and 32 others. "i've been trying to remain calm," she said last week, "because it's not easy to be pregnant in a situation like this." families of most of the trapped miners can be found at what they call camp home each day, outside the mine gates. but from deep in the mine, elizabeth's husband sent her a message. she should stay at home, he said, not in the camp, because she is pregnant. but it is hard for anyone to relax, knowing that a loved one is trapped half a mile underground. there have been other touching stories here. just ask christina. a few months ago, she declined her boyfriend's offer of marriage. that's him, talking to their daughter. when he was found alive, christina reconsidered. "he said, okay, my love," she tells me. "as soon as i get out of here, we're going to get married." as for the pregnant mother, she gave birth to a daughter as her husband waited anxiously f

in the meantime, as jeffrey kofman reports from chile, they're being provided with more services to help them cope. >> reporter: ron, it's now day 38 for the miners here. trapped under this mountainside. they now have modern conveniences that most of us take for granted. a new line dropped to them is bringing electricity, fresh running water, fresh air, and fiber optic communications. and they're being kept awake by day and night cycles. to give them a proper rhythm. but they're going to need all of these luxuries. authorities here emphasize it will be weeks and weeks before they can be rescued. there are plans a, b, and c. drilling operations. the ventilation shaft is down about 600 feet. that's plan a. it's going to have to stop. it has to change its drill head. plan b ran into some metal. in the old mine and that broke the drill head. it's not clear they'll be able to continue. they may have to start all over. the best hope, plan c. a massive oil drilling rig that's been brought in over the last couple of days. it now has to be assembled. that will take about ten days. when it's assem
