trump supporter, jeffrey lewis said he would never have been in the donald trump camp any way. >> ifld trump, that doesn't matter. this is a microcosm of a larnl larger problem. he has the fact that the electorate is dramatically different. i think the media kofrm has changed. on top of it all, you have republican voters and opinion leaders in the security community that are not rallying around him. he has to worry about keeping his base together. it is a huge problem. >> first of all, it could be a leading indicator for colin powell, of whom he is exceptionally close. he was the head of the state department. these are guys that had problems with the iraq war. they didn't become bush republicans on national security but they are national security republicans. if powell were to come out and endorse hillary clinton or others like armitage that endorse her, that could have a real impact on independent voters. >> if colin powell were to come out in favor of hillary clinton, it would be staggering. it would be very hard for donald trump to build up a real moral authority argument against

we're joined now by two of our commentators, jeffrey lord and errol lewis. with you, errol. clinton did not mention the frustration, the anger of british voters who cast their ballot, severally talkimply tal pound, prime minister and markets. was that a mistake? >> not at all. i don't think there is an easy fit between the anger of voters in britain over some very different issues and what we see going on in the united states. so it's probably best i think in her case to simply avoid that. and to the extent that one wants to make what in my opinion is a simplistic analogy, it doesn't work to her advantage. so probably best for her to leave it alone. what we saw in or rop,europe, a concerns with immigration. what they were doing would have an impact on britain and voters were very yp set and concerned about it because they really didn't have a lot of control over it. very different situation here in the united states. >> jeffrey, when asked about the brexit, trump had this to say about the british currency. watch. >> if the pound goes down, they will do more

jeffrey lord, a cnn political commentator who is supporting trump. he joins us now via skype. also political commentators angela rye, former executive director of the congressional black caucus and matt lewisaily caller. thank you for joining me this evening. as you can see, nick kristof and i had a very candid conversation. i want to continue with this candor. no talking points, please. let's just speak from the heart. i think it's an important conversation that america is having. we need to continue to have it. jeffrey, i'm going to start with you. i know that you do not believe that trump's comments about judge curiel were racist despite so many people within his own party disagreeing with you. if they weren't racist, then what were they? >> yeah. i think he backed into an excellent discussion here. i think quite candidly, he feels that the guy is a latino activist, which i think is certainly true in looking at his record. i mean he's quite the activist in the san diego la raza lawyers association. he's a member interestingly of the national hispanic bar association, which put out a statement a year ago saying -- demanding a boycott of all of donald trump's businesses. i just think he's
