i'm jenelle wang, abc 7 news. >> jenelle, thanks a lot.e're continuing to follow developing news in oakland where police are investigating a triple shooting outside a nightclub. it happened around 2:00 this morning outside a club on the 1400 block. three people were taken to the hospital but it's unclear how serious their injuries are. bullets hit at least one car and a nearby building. investigators say the whole thing may have started as a fight at one of two nearby clubs. no arrests have been made. >> a new poll in california shows meg whitman and jerry brown still in a tie in the governor's race despite whitman spending $119 million of her. money on the campaign. state attorney general brown and ceo whitman came up with 40% of voters according to the latest field poll. with less than six weeks before the election, 18% of those surveyed are still unsure which candidate they would back. that's up from 13% who were undecided during the last field poll back in july. >> bart is looking for additional revenue. its board is set to meet today

reporting live in the news room, jenelle wang. >> it's 5:33.set to testify on capitol hill about that explosion and fire. members of the senate commerce committee are holding a hearing on pipeline safety and want to know more about the september 9th disaster that killed seven people. california senator barbara boxer is part of the panel. they introduced legislation to double the number of federal pipeline inspectors and require automatic electronic shutoff valves wherever possible. >> the scheduled execution for condemned inmate has now been delayed until at least thursday at 9 p.m.. late yesterday the 9th circuit court of appeals ordered a federal district judge in san jose to schedule a new hearing for albert greenwood brown. he was convicted of raping and killing a 15-year-old four years ago. he should not be offered a choice of lethal injection methods because there is nothing under california law. it leaves just three hours before the expiration date and that could force a delay until next year. >> investigators are looking to see if an el

i'm jenelle wang, abc 7 news. >> jenelle, thank you very much. 6:34 now.ndro police are looking for a man impersonating a police officer. a woman who was walking on east 14th street when a man driving a black s.u.v. stopped, jumped out wearing what investigators called a tactical uniform and told her to freeze. the man handcuffed the woman and took $200 from here while pretending to do an i.d. search. police tell the public if it doesn't feel right, look for identifying information on the officer's uniform. the former sha cheerleading squad is under arrest. she embezzled almost $20,000 from the team. investigators say she collected money from members to pay for cheerleading camp, uniforms and other expenses but prosecutors say she used the cash for personal items including clothing, rent and even a trip to vegas. >> jaycee dugard and her two daughters may be spared from having to relive their ordeal in open court next month. nancy's attorney said she and her husband phillip had been indicted by a grand jury. no one would confirm or deny the reported indict

jenelle wang is live in san bruno with the latest. jenelle? >> kristen and cheryl, it's called influence corrosion, also known as mic. investigators will see if that was a cause in the san bruno explosion that happened two weeks ago and destroyed this neighborhood. mic is believed to be the cause of a deadly explosion in new mexico ten years ago. a gas line ruptured in the desert killing 12. after looking at the direct pipeline, investigators found destructive microbes which can lie undetected for years in an underground pipeline. it starts eating and corroding away the metal. the pipeline in new mexico over 50 years old and 30 inches in diameter. the pipeline in san bruno, over 50 years old and 30 inches in diameter. pg&e told state regulators last year there was ongoing concern about the internal corrosion for the pipeline that ran from san francisco through san bruno. microbes have shown up in several tests along the lines. experts not associated with pg&e confirm it's very likely pipelines as old as 50 years old could have microbes in it.

jenelle wang joins us now with the latest on a capitol hill hearing going on right now. >> this hearingn sex trafficking is going into its second hour. a house judiciary committee wants to know if online services play a role in the slavery of miners. they're listening to congressional leaders. they're listening to testimony from human rights organizations and of course craigslist. they accused the website of allowing ads that could lead to sex violence. earlier this month the san francisco based website company shut down the section but posted the word sensored over the link after feeling the pressure. today more criticism is coming. >> today perpetrators hide behind their personal computers and have a child at their doorstep with the click of a button. between 2004 and 2008, child sex trafficking complaints originating from the internet actually grew by 1,000%. >> it was representative jackie spear. most of the ads placed on craigslist but the adult adds cost $10 apiece. last year a boston medical student killed a masseuse he contacted through the website. police say he patrolled craig

abc 7's jenelle wang is live with the latest and how does lady gaga play into this?getting into this debate. the senate could vote to begin debating on the defense authorization bill which would approve $726 billion in military spending. what's garnering more attention is the two attached to it. one would repeal the don't have don't tell policy. lady gaga demanding an end to the military policy of banning openly gay service members. she chose maine hoping to sway the state's two moderate republican senators. they plan to vote with their party because democratic leadership will not allow amendments to the defense bill. lady gaga still has hope. >> doesn't it seem to be based on the constitution of the united states that we're penalizing the wrong soldier? doesn't it seem to you that we should send home the prejudiced. i'm jenelle wang. good to have you here. >> i'm kristen sze.et's begin with the ending of a police chase spanning from the north bay to the east bay. this is where it ended, at roosevelt street in harbor way in richmond but it began when vallejo police were chasing a stolen car at speeds above 100 mph. the car eventually crashed into a parked truck near roosevelt street. the truck caught fire and the flames spread to the building with six residential units on the upper floors. nobody inside was hurt. fire crews put the fire out quickly and determined that the building was damaged but was still safe enough for residents to return. the driver of the car is hospitalized with moderate injuries. police say he faces numerous charges. a female passenger was also detained. >> a san jose police officer is in hot water this morning accused of staging a fake arrest. the reason? to scare his stepdaughter's boyfriend. theresa garcia's live in san jose with more on this story. theresa? >> this all unfolded last month when the officer found out that the 15-ye

jenelle wang joins us with more. >> the drug of choice: marijuana.ontinues to be the most commonly used drug. the office of national drug control policy believes the rise is because people's perceptions that drugs can be harmful is fading. legalized marijuana supporters say this is a sign the war on pot is failing and the government should stop spending millions of dollars in taxpayer money fighting this war. this report comes at a time when california voters prepare to decide on proposition 19 in november which would legalize marijuana. proponents say the state should implement laws that would tax and regulate pot the same way it does with legal drugs like alcohol and tobacco. 22 americans age 12 and up used illegal drugs. there was ecstasy use rising 37%, methamphetamine just 60%. cocaine drops from its peak back in 2006. >> it's 5:47. gubernatorial candidate meg whitman has broken the record for the most personal money spent in a political campaign. her staff says the republican candidate for governor now has spent $119 million of her own money. n

jenelle wang joins us to explain.y're admitting this while trying to get lawsuits dismissed. >> yeah. toyota admits there is a software bug when reading its black boxes that has nothing to do with reports of sudden acceleration problems. according to the l.a. times, the device to read the recorders could give incorrect information on speed but that did not affect the readings for pedal and brake application. toyota says it has fixed the problem but just the admission of the software bug cast fresh doubt on the reliability of data collected. toyota has been hit with hundreds of lawsuits after drivers claim their cars suddenly sped up but the auto giant says half the cars tested, the brake had not been applied suggesting the driver made a mistake. therefore toyota is asking a federal court to dismiss hundreds of lawsuits filed against the company. those lawsuits have been consolidated and assigned to one federal judge in southern california. a hear on toyota's request to dismiss all the lawsuits is scheduled for novembe
