jenna: hi, everybody, i'm jenna lee. thanks for starting off your week with us.early as today, we expect the head of the nsa to publicly release a list of suspected terror plots disrupted by the phone number surveillance program. this comes as calls grow for more transparency about how the collection of the data has strengthened national security. people want evidence of this, that it's actually working. the government has revealed how the program thwarted two attacks, one was this man's plan to target a new york city subway system in 2009. that got a whole lot of publicity, and this man's intention to ban a newspaper building. national security correspondent jennifer griffin is live with more on this story from the pentagon. what can you tell us about some of the plots that the nsa says are evidence that these programs are helping us and keeping us safe? >> reporter: well, jenna, we expect more details about these programs to be declassified today, but we're still waiting for those deillals from the -- details from the nsa. one includes the new york subway bombe

jenna. jenna: these lawmakers are obviously elected officials and the public -- there is a lot of public opinion on this. it's probably an understatement, right, mike? you probably heard some of it on social media yourself. what kind of concerns have the lawmakers come forward with speaking for the public that they represent? >> reporter: well an interesting moment one of the republicans wanted to know what had been done in terms of privacy protections put in by president obama and fbi director mueller could not site any examples in terms of the patriot act in terms of more privacy put in under this administration. john conyers had his concerns. >> i don't condone these leaks. i believe that if we fail to address the concerns at the heart of these controversial programs that there will be more leaks. >> reporter: so we are hearing from the director about these high profile leaks, we are also expecting to get more about him about the boston bombings and the fbi investigation of that, and perh

jenna: glad you're with us, everybody, i'm jenna lee. attorney general eric holder is defending himself and his department in writing sending a letter to the house judiciary committee chairman, this is in response to a series of questions about the warrant issued for fox news correspondent james rosen in connection with the justice department's investigation of a classified leak. there is a big question of whether or not they are even going to get a response to some of these questions. we have the response and doug abg elway is live with more on this eufrpblgt. >> reporter: holder's letter came in johns to a communication that bob lett gave him. here is what holder said at that time. >> with regard to the potential prosecution of the press for the disclosure of material, that is not something that i've ever been involved or heard of, or would think would be a wise policy, in fact, my view is quite the opposite. >> reporter: in his letter of last night holder said approval for the rosen warrant came on may 28th, 2010. he said he was the o

jenna: okay.want to be clear on that because we draw upon your experience so much in this area. take us in a little bit. how important are these contractors that are working on our national intelligence and have some of these clearances that give them access to classified information? >> right. well, i mean, the contractors that provide the support whether it's technical support or, you know, any other assistance, you know, they're very important overall because they're a force multiplier. we just don't have the intel community and the others involved in national security, homeland defense, we just don't have enough people internally, you know, as staffers, government employees, to do the work that needs to be done particularly when you're talking about, again, on the technology side. the interesting thing here with this, with edward snowden is people say, well, how did somebody like this, a low-level i.t. person, a low-level computer maintenance guy, how did he have access to all this information

jenna: wow! turning back to the story we brought you at the top of the hour, police in massachusetts are reportered issuing a arrest warrant for new england patriots tight end aaron her nan sez. he is wanted for obstruction of justice in the murder investigation of his friend odin lloyd. that is the information we have now. worth to remind you that this story dranked drastically over last several days. it started on monday when lloyd was found, his body in an industrial park less than a mile away from hernandez's home. that is when the questions started. molly line is south of boston with more on this story. molly? >> reporter: good morning. what we don't know at this hour where aaron hernandez actually is or if he returned to his upper class home in north attelboro, which is short walk from the industrial park where the victim's body was found. we're told by the bristol county district attorney's office this morning they can not affirm that an arrest warrant has actually been issued this hour bu

jenna: fox news alert.he city of philadelphia where we continue to watch very active scene of a building collapse and we just got some fresh information from the fire department in the area saying that the demolition of the building next door to the thrift store that you're seeing on your screen there appears at first glance, that the first part of this investigation, to have affected the rest of the block, the rest of this thrift store, which extended down the block. apparently the area where the salvation army takes in donations. you're seeing all the fire and police standing in front of the building is the actual thrift store part of the salvation army. apparently the building next door was a commercial dwelling and the preliminary information that we have suggests that it is a three-story dwelling in front, two stories in back and again there was some sort of a demolition taking place or some sort of construction taking place in that building. witnesses say, jon, as they were on the streets there, sudde
