jennifer glasse has been following the story for us in the capital, kiev. jennifer, we saw the two sides come together on saturday, not a lot of results. what if anything might we expect at this time? >> well, stephanie your question is a very, very good one. nobody really knows. on saturday, president viktor yanukovych offered the office of minister and deputy minister, the opposition reject they'd flat out. they want the repeal of a law that makes the -- that criminalizes many, many aspects of freedom of speech and criminalizes many human rights there here. they would like president yanukovych to either step down or set a date for early presidential elections. that is what they are asking for. whether he will do that, these demonstrations have spread far beyond kiev to regions including the east in the president's stronghold. even though opposition strong holds are rising it has to be a clear sign to the president that many of the people stand against him. >> jennifer, the justice minister earlier threatened a state of emergency. the foreign minister says

our jennifer glass is in kiev, and the on met with the president yesterday but what came of that? >> stephanie, i have to say not much came of that meeting, and when the leaders of the opposition came out here, they told the people to be disappointed, that none of their demands, the president stepped down in the early elections and the government be replaced have been fulfilled. and they told the demonstrators to stand their ground but asked them to remain peaceful. and i have to share with you, stephanie, kind of a hopeful moment today, a few hundred yards where clashes were taken part since sunday until a truce was called yesterday afternoon. today what happened was, one of the policemen went over to one of the protesters and said, look, we asked is you to leave. and the protester said to him, we can't leave, because if we leave, there won't be fair elections. they got on megaphones and were taking to each other civilly and explaining at least a little bit of dialogue among the people theory. one bright spot in a tense situation in kiev. >> that's a nice bit of color for us, jen

it's been a really neat transition just seeing jennifer from one point to now. it's just a totally different person. >> watching these two women bring caden into the prison and seeing the love they had for both caden and jennifer was truly inspirational. and then terry, taking full responsibility for this child, knowing that she was going to give the child back to jennifer when she got out of prison, astounded me. >> they cannot take custody from you without a reason to. and as long as you have somebody to take care of him, you still have full custody. they just have temporary custody until you're released. and then once upon your release from here, you'll be given back all custody. so, that gives me the focus to know i have to do what i have to do to get out of here, to get him back and get my life back. >> what are you doing while you're in prison? how are you spending your days here? >> ged classes, and then hopefully, after i get my ged, i start some college classes. my goal is to be a vet tech hopefully within two years i can be in a vet school somewhere. >

jennifer, thank you very much. and as you can tell, even though that fragile truce has expired, the crowds that have gathered in the central square showing no signs of leaving. south sudan's warring factions now agreeing to a cease fire, leaders from both sides signing off on a five week cease fire agreement. jamal has more from jube ba, the capital of south sudan. >> it's been a long awaited cease fire, but a huge break deal nonetheless. at least now those who have fled their homes because of the violence that has raged through south sudan over the past several weeks has some hope that they may return soon. the cease fire just signed essentially guarantees there will be permission, or both sides would allow for aid to reach those effected. however, it will only be implemented 24 hours after the signing of the time of that signing. despite this break through, despite the cease fire, many view that this is just a patching of a wound that continues to bleed. because there are real differences between both sides here.

jennifer glasse joins us from the capital. tell us about this warning that the prosecutor be general has just issued? >> that's right, he issued a statement saying that demonstrators should get off the streets, echoing a statement what the president said as well, calling it a crime against the state. but despite that we have just heard from one of the opposition parties, the svoboda parties, they are calling on their members to come out on the street so we can still hear explosions reverberating across the city tonight as is violence continues. there's a front line in the center of kiev. 18th government protestors in the rebellious standoff with hundreds of riots. they hunkered down when people made weapons from anything they could find. those not willing to fight still came out in support, to let police know they are there. after weeks of peacen demonstration it's come to this. open confrontation on the streets of kiev. the demonstrators say they will stay here to maintain pressure on the government and few here are optimisti
