so this is more for am man daan j jennifer. jennifer, you mentioned that it is not going to be kwut as chaotic as a process as some people are claiming or predicting. and that these states and municipalities will have sort of a thoughtful approach to passing these laws that may mimic the south dakota statute. one of the questions around that is that even if each of the states and local governments has this thoughtful process in creating the laws just the sheer number of these governments could lead to chaos despite the best of intentions, i think. so kind of how do you react to that argument with the good processes and the precedent with south dakota's law, like some states and municipalities might be looking to low ter tlehreshos or have different legislative features in the laws. so how do you react to that? >> i think that the supreme court provided a pretty clear pathway for the states to look at south dakota. and i think that mike did a great job of outlining what those standards are for other states. and we expect that, y

jennifer: that's a great question. say, i have never seen the industry as united as we are today, opposing these tariffs. throughout the value supply chain, there is simply no support for this. automakers,ll domestic and international, auto dealers, are all opposed to cut we understand the consequences that could come from this decision. we are all trying to do what we can to prevent this from happening. we believe it will be bad for our industry and economy. haidi: we've spoken to a number of voices and the general consensus is, tariffs aren't the way to go. let's get back to the negotiating table. let's come up with a coherent and comprehensive strategy on how to deal with america's trading partners. tariffs are playing easily and nicely before the midterms. are you optimistic that the in thes of this will get way of any sort of resolution that would be business beneficial? jennifer: i would say, we certainly appreciate the administration goals of trying to level the playing field, strengthen trade agreements to grow

we are joined by jennifer read. his at&t correct?ustice department has some kind of leverage or jurisdiction in order to stop this deal? jennifer: of course they have the right to appeal. even though at&t is correct that the deal was closed, what they did in order to close early is to hold the turner assets separate. the doj agreed to that because leaves the possibility of a domestic teacher of turner broadcasting as a possible remedy if the doj prevails. they cannot argue the unscrambling of the eggs, we have integrated and the unscrambling can hurt us because they have been prevented from doing that. vonnie: what will the doj lawyers be arguing? jennifer: it is hard to say. i think they have an uphill climb. the decision was very thorough and most importantly, it was fact-based. it was much more based on the facts than an interpretation of the law. the reason that is important is because the appellate panel has more flexibility if it is some sort of an erroneous interpretation of the law. the have less flexibility when it comes to

jennifer. >> yes. >> your impression. you say we need to know about him. >> he's an independent, fair minded judge. he has one of the sharpest legal minds in the country. i think you would say today in a story yesterday said on paper he may be the most qualified supreme court nominee in generations, but in addition to that, he's also extremely approachable. he's a great mentor to former clerks. i clerked for him his first year on the bench so finished my clerkship 11 years ago. he hired a diverse array of law clerks, majority of which are women and he's a terrific family, community man. he coaches his daughter's basketball teams and serves meals in the community through his church. >> so you're not a fan, just kidding? so justin, what were your impressions working for him? >> well, you know, to everything that jennifer just said. you know, getting to work for judge kavanaugh was an amazing honor and it was exciting to be in his chambers. it was exciting to be around someone who has that kind of reverence for the constitut
