our jennifer delgado taking a look at a tropical depression. we are jim spelman keeping an eye on the wildfires in texas that has destroyed dozens of homes and also susan candiotti in vermont. jennifer, what are we looking at? >> we are looking at tropical depression number 13. looks like later on it will become a tropical storm. on the tlaet i satellite imager working in. i can tell you this the winds right now sustained at 35 miles per hour. we are getting reports tropical storm force winds on some of the oil rigs just to the west of that circulation so, again, as i show you this, and i put this into motion for you let's give you an idea on the potential track. notice, it's not going to be moving that much over the next several days. and that is a problem because that means we are setting up for a big flooding threat for parts of the gulf of mexico. it gets close to the coastline of louisiana as we go sunday, 2:00 a.m. then notice as we go tuesday, 2:00 a.m., it is just existing off the border of louisiana into parts of mississippi. this whole

. >> jennifer delgado tracking this system, live from the extreme weather center in atlanta. what's it looking like? i saw you giving these forecasts a little earlier with carol and it looks -- never seen a storm forecast like that. >> yeah. you know, the problem is we don't have any steering winds to push tropical depression number 13 anywhere and over the last several hours it's really been kind of basically stationary. you can start to see more convection popping towards the south and southeastern portion of the storm. you can't pick out a center of circulation. the rain working into parts of louisiana, gusts up to 45 miles per hour, sustained winds at 39 or should say 35 miles per hour. now as i show you the trek, ali, this what is you were asking about, it's not going to be moving very much. notice by sunday, 2:00 a.m., approaching the southern coastline, louisiana, and then by monday, 2:00 a.m., still in that southern part of louisiana. what this is going to be doing, it's going to be causing a strong storm surge, we're also going to be talking about extremely heavy rai

we'll also be speaking to jennifer delgado.he'll be bringing you your world weather forecast, so don't go away. >>> welcome back. live from london and dallan in northeastern china, you're watching "world business today." >> let's go to the weather now, starting with germany where they're clearing up after a major storm. jennifer delgado joins us from the cnn international weather center. good morning to you, jen. germany first. how's it looking? the cleanup operation is under way? >> yeah, you know, the weather is looking better today, but it was quite wild late sunday as well as into monday. we have some new video in, and it's showing you the damage left behind after a round of strong storms. people are cleaning up there after some of these storms produced some good-size hail as well as damaged roofs. you can see them, the homes there, homeowners actually cleaning up. and this is after reports of wind gusts up to about 80 kph. and certainly many areas there are cleaning up. this happened in the western part of germany as well

for more we're joined by jennifer delgado from the international weather center. see any weakening of this storm, jen? >> you know, it has weakened since it passed through the philippines, but the problem is it's still a typhoon. if you were to put this in the atlantic, this would be a category 1 storm. now, to give you updated information, winds right now sustained at 130 kilometers. gusts up to 157. right now it's located about 630 kilometers south-southeast of hong kong, roughly about 300 miles away. it's going to be moving over towards the west, making landfall it looks like thursday evening right in that northern part of hainan as a typhoon and potentially making another landfall in vietnam, an area that does not need any rain because they've also been recovering from a flooding situation as well. let's go to video to show you the aftermath of typhoon nesat through the philippines. you're looking at water coming into homes, people walking around. a lot of the problems were caused by the storm surge with that typhoon coming through. it caused a tremendous amou

jennifer delgado joins us from the weather center with more on the storm and where it's heading. it's been very destructive. presumably, it's going to continue to be destructive. although we hope not. >> absolutely. we've been seeing some of the damage coming out of the philippines and it has caused a lot of damage. i want to go to video to give you an idea of what people are dealing with across part of the philippines. they're walking around in waist-deep water. thousands of people have been evacuated. this is video of the river rising dangerously. people being evacuated and rightfully so. we're talking about the strong wind. thousands of people have been evacuated. this also comes actually two years after the formation of typhoon parma. we remember that storm. it killed nearly 500 people in the philippines. as i take you back over and show you this from the satellite imagery. it's working towards the west. over the last several hours, interacting land from the mountains over the eastern area of the sierra ma dres. we're still getting an incredible amount of rainfall. especially

jennifer delgado is at the cnn weather center with a look at the forecast.e not seen pictures like this in a long time. very dramatic, very scary pictures that have been coming out of texas. >> that's right. and we've been looking at this since november. and you're right, 1,000 homes since november, since the fire started burning. and right now, we still have many burning right through parts of eastern texas. you have to keep in mind over the last several day, we're talking an area just to the east of austin, texas. reportedly we've lost more than 600 homes to fires burns in bastrop county. let's give you an idea conditions. of course smoke being blown around everywhere. and the problem is we're dealing with another day with low relative humidity values and no rain in the forecast. we'll continue to see more scenes like this. as i take you back over for the area we've been talking about for bastrop county, reportedly the fire is about 30% contained, but keep in mind 5,000 people have been forced to track eight. and for today, we are still dealing with this r

jennifer delgado is at the cnn weather center. good morning, jen. the worst in history. serious. >> we're talking about billions of dollars in damages. more than a million hectares burned, 3.5 million acres burned since november. we're talking an area roughly the side of the u.s. state of connecticut. now as i show you on the satellite imagery, looking across texas and parts of the south, you see how quiet it is. satellite imagery showing you dry conditions. let's go to video to give you an idea of what conditions look like in parts of texas, this is coming out of magnolia, texas. this is san area dealing with dry conditions. when you had strong winds yesterday and relative humidity values basically of single digits, this did not help conditions across the region. again, this is out of magnolia. let's go to another video, this is coming out of bastr 0. p county. more than 500 homes have been destroyed. this is say billion dollar loss in many areas. we're talking billions of dollars in damages. it is going to continue to be dry. we have an elevated fire threat throughout

. >> i didn't want to preempt jennifer delgado but there aren't any typhoons i'm aware of here in europe but i'm not a meteorologist. the markets are open today. they're all pointing downwards at the open. here's how things look, just an hour and four minutes, 64 minutes, into the trading day. we are seeing a tiny bit of continued strength, actually. up by about 0.25% for the xetra dax. paris cac current up by 0.5%, zurich smi up by 4%. we are seeing losses on the london ftse. the markets think that angela merkel will win that vote. we'll come to that later on. in the past hour, nokia of finland announced it's slashing 3,500 jobs by the end of 2012 and that's sent its share price down 1.3% in helsinki. i think one can safely say, andrew, unfortunately, that is a star in the descendant. >> absolutely. 23 y if you look at that share price cut, investors don't think nokia has the turnaround on the table quite yet. in the u.s., all three indices closed down on wednesday. there are fairly significant falls, too, the euro zone remaining in the spotlight. the dow down 1.6%. tech stocks taking a

. >> okay, jennifer delgado, as always, many thanks for that report. >>> we can take a closer look at typhoon roke which as we've just heard is lashing japan. our paula hancocks is tracking the progress of the storm from tokyo, so she's there and can tell us what it's looking like where she is. obviously, paula, we want to talk about fukushima, and we'll get to that in a moment. jennifer said this storm probably moving to the west of that, but how is it looking in tokyo right now? >> reporter: well, we've certainly seen over the past couple of hours that the winds have picked up significantly here in tokyo and also there has been driving rain. but, of course, it did make landfall south of here in the region. and that's the particular area and the key peninsula where there are fears of serious flooding and also fears of mudslides. as jennifer mentioned, there was a tie finance just a couple of weeks ago, and that hit the key peninsula very hard. there were significant mudslides, deadly mudslides, and there is a concern that this could happen once again, that the rivers could burst thei

jennifer delgado is tracking the tropical storm system and jim spellman is covering the big wildfire west of dallas. jennifer, what is our forecast look like? i've got a lot of family in new orleans and they are nervous right now. >> rightfully so. we are talking about 10 to 15 inches of rainfall. some of those localized areas are going to be dealing with 15 inches of rainfall in addition to a storm surge anywhere between two and four feet. we have updated the information from the national hurricane center. right now it's located roughly about 195 kilometers just to the south of louisiana. the winds are actually coming from -- the movement is from the northwest at about 2 miles per hour, moving very slowly. as it does move slow, that is going to increase the flooding potential. we are talking about a storm that is going to be across the area for the next five days. maximum winds right now at 35 miles per hour with gusts up to 45. as i put this into motion four, you're going to see how slowly tropical depression 13 is going to be moving. as it goes through say today, here it is, the lo
