our jennifer delgado taking a look at a tropical depression. we are jim spelman keeping an eye on the wildfires in texas that has destroyed dozens of homes and also susan candiotti in vermont. jennifer, what are we looking at? >> we are looking at tropical depression number 13. looks like later on it will become a tropical storm. on the tlaet i satellite imager working in. i can tell you this the winds right now sustained at 35 miles per hour. we are getting reports tropical storm force winds on some of the oil rigs just to the west of that circulation so, again, as i show you this, and i put this into motion for you let's give you an idea on the potential track. notice, it's not going to be moving that much over the next several days. and that is a problem because that means we are setting up for a big flooding threat for parts of the gulf of mexico. it gets close to the coastline of louisiana as we go sunday, 2:00 a.m. then notice as we go tuesday, 2:00 a.m., it is just existing off the border of louisiana into parts of mississippi. this whole

for more we're joined by jennifer delgado from the international weather center. see any weakening of this storm, jen? >> you know, it has weakened since it passed through the philippines, but the problem is it's still a typhoon. if you were to put this in the atlantic, this would be a category 1 storm. now, to give you updated information, winds right now sustained at 130 kilometers. gusts up to 157. right now it's located about 630 kilometers south-southeast of hong kong, roughly about 300 miles away. it's going to be moving over towards the west, making landfall it looks like thursday evening right in that northern part of hainan as a typhoon and potentially making another landfall in vietnam, an area that does not need any rain because they've also been recovering from a flooding situation as well. let's go to video to show you the aftermath of typhoon nesat through the philippines. you're looking at water coming into homes, people walking around. a lot of the problems were caused by the storm surge with that typhoon coming through. it caused a tremendous amou

jennifer delgado is at the cnn weather center with a look at the forecast.e not seen pictures like this in a long time. very dramatic, very scary pictures that have been coming out of texas. >> that's right. and we've been looking at this since november. and you're right, 1,000 homes since november, since the fire started burning. and right now, we still have many burning right through parts of eastern texas. you have to keep in mind over the last several day, we're talking an area just to the east of austin, texas. reportedly we've lost more than 600 homes to fires burns in bastrop county. let's give you an idea conditions. of course smoke being blown around everywhere. and the problem is we're dealing with another day with low relative humidity values and no rain in the forecast. we'll continue to see more scenes like this. as i take you back over for the area we've been talking about for bastrop county, reportedly the fire is about 30% contained, but keep in mind 5,000 people have been forced to track eight. and for today, we are still dealing with this r

jennifer delgado is tracking the tropical storm system and jim spellman is covering the big wildfire west of dallas. jennifer, what is our forecast look like? i've got a lot of family in new orleans and they are nervous right now. >> rightfully so. we are talking about 10 to 15 inches of rainfall. some of those localized areas are going to be dealing with 15 inches of rainfall in addition to a storm surge anywhere between two and four feet. we have updated the information from the national hurricane center. right now it's located roughly about 195 kilometers just to the south of louisiana. the winds are actually coming from -- the movement is from the northwest at about 2 miles per hour, moving very slowly. as it does move slow, that is going to increase the flooding potential. we are talking about a storm that is going to be across the area for the next five days. maximum winds right now at 35 miles per hour with gusts up to 45. as i put this into motion four, you're going to see how slowly tropical depression 13 is going to be moving. as it goes through say today, here it is, the lo
