jennifer delgado is tracking the winter storm threat for us. hey, jennifer. >> hi, john. you're right. good news, the storm system is out of here. look at the snowfall totals. locations across virginia. 6 inches of snowfall in addition to heavy rainfall. and that's why you saw the video of the landslide coming in out of north carolina. we had reports unconfirmed of more than a foot of snow through parts of virginia. things quieter than yesterday. yesterday we had the snow, we had the rain, but here is the storm system pulling away. a chance for snow working through areas, including wisconsin. overall, interstate 95, washington, d.c., new york, you will be looking nice today and we certainly need a break from all of the precipitation and we're talking warm temperatures through parts of the central plains. northern plains, temperatures will run 15 degrees above average. out in the west, for areas including washington, as well as oregon, you will deal with fog around in some of the locations up to noon. that will lead to travel delays, warm temperatures for the afternoon. re

jennifer delgado with a look. >> a gloomy, wet and chilly monday. temperatures are certainly better than they what they were last week. detroit, if you're heading out the door this morning, you certainly need to be looking out for some icy spots out there because, of course w the temperature hovering near the freezing mark. mid-atlantic, we look at areas from pittsburgh down to norfolk, notice where that band is of freezing rain, make sure you're paying attention and taking it slow. we'll be looking at some icy conditions and the same for interstate 95 including washington, d.c., some reports of light snow there and more of that snow works into areas of new england and boston as we go later into the day. this will have an effect on travel. if you're flying into boston, snow there. washington, d.c., freezing rain and rain. the big change on the way. we talked about so much the cold air. dallas, 76. tomorrow, 72. then notice some cold air comes in from the north dropping temperatures back to normal by wednesday into thursday. guys, we're going to set

meteorologist jennifer delgado with a look at that. >> hi. we've been talking about the heavy rain across parts of the south and now we're talking about snow. it's coming down now for areas including mississippi. you can see on the radar now it's coming down this morning. we'll continue to see those winter weather advisories in place for mississippi through the morning hours. then that storm system will shift over to the west and effect areas like alabama, especially later this afternoon and into the northern parts of georgia. right now for atlanta, you can see, for birmingham, we are just looking at heavy rainfall. again, we'll see that rain shifting over to snow. once we get more of that cold air working in, for washington, d.c. right now you are looking at rain, but you will see that snow working in as we get to the afternoon hours. here is a look at the winter weather advisories and warnings out there. anywhere in pink and purple. in addition to this this will lead to driving problems. some of these areas will look at one to two inches of

jennifer delgado is tracking the extreme weather for us.sday and you've already had a very busy week, my dear. >> that's right. right now we're watching for the potential of severe weather to pop up later in the day. anywhere in gold, this is the area we're under risk for tornadoes to pop up, but the area in the orange shading, that is our moderate route and this is the area that we're going to see the potential for stronger storms from eastern texas into the southern part of missouri into the boot hill. as i said the real problem is going to come in the overnight hours. you can see a lot of light nij moving through areas like eastern parts of iowa and iowa city. to the north of green bay as well as moving through parts of michigan like grand rapids as well as into ann arbor. we're watching a system down in the south plains. that is going to be our feel for the severe weather as we get later into the afternoon as well as into the evening. and the real problem is going to be when they move through the evening in the overnight hours. look at

jennifer delgado? >> all of this is due to the cold air in place.inus 43, that's what it feels like, minus 25 in minneapolis. you have been dealing with the cold temperatures over the last couple days and it's still going to be sticking around, looks like even as we go through the week, we'll start to see temperatures rising just a bit. keep in mind with your windchill values near 30, 35 and 50 in some parts of the upper midwest this could lead to frost bite, even hypothermia or even death. these warnings are in place all the way through new england and some of these as i said are going to go even until wednesday. now the other part of the story is the big snow we're talking about, lake-effect is in full effect right now. you can see coming down for areas including lake ontario, squas well as lake erie. heavy snow from cleveland towards buffalo. let's go to a live shot coming out of cleveland, you're looking at the snow and some of the locations we're going to see three to seven inches of snow. that's just for cleveland. as i take you back over to o

meteorologist jennifer delgado is here to tell us how much worse this weather may get. i saw the temperature in minnesota and i was afraid. >> you should be afraid and carol, it really is a serious matter. we're talking some of the windchill values have dropped down to minus 51 and if you're in the outdoor air and say if you're in a windchill minus 30, it only takes ten minutes to develop frost bite with light winds and right now the current windchill values are still well below freezing, minus 23 in minneapolis. we're also talking in green bay as well as into milwaukee bitterly cold and the cold conditions will stick around really for a good portion of the week. we are going to see those windchill values to come up just a bit but we still have advisories in place looks like through about noon local times for parts of the midwest and of course it spreads all the way over towards parts of new england. the other part of the story you just showed the video, a lot of snow has been coming down in some of these parts along lake erie, ontario, we could see three feet of snow,

let's go to jennifer delgado, live at the cnn weather center in atlanta with a look at what kind of weather we can expect here today. i have to tell you, we're counting our blessings. we heard it was about to be 23 degrees at this hour. we'll take 37. >> absolutely, zoraida. you're enjoying a heat wave in comparison to what they felt last year. we will see a chance for a few snow flurries to arrive later into the evening. here's your forecast. high temperatures will be above freezing. 39 right near swearing in, 43. and then notice your feel-like temperature will be 37 degrees. so there will be a bit of a wind around. but for all the parties later on, certainly everybody will need to bundle up. if you think it's going to be cold in washington, d.c., more cold air is on the way and it's going to be arriving from the northern plains as well as the upper midwest. get this, wind chill values will be down to minus 50 in some locations. some of these parts you could endure hypothermia or frostbite within 20 to 30 minutes. you need to bundle up today and put on a lot of layers. that makes you feel

meteorologist jennifer delgado on the scene in the weather center in atlanta.t warm up? >> it will warm up, but it will take a while. a lot of us have done the science experiment to throw the water and see it freeze. windchill values in the double digits. minus 20 in parts of pennsylvania. once again, dealing with an area, of an advisory and windchill from the upper midwest to new england, and new england, they will feel the brunt of it today. we'll see windchill values from minus 30 to in us in 40, and this advisory in some places are in effect until later this evening. what it feels like, in new york, zero. good for you. above zero for providence, minus 3 and albany, minus 8. add in the wind, of course, with the cold temperatures out there. that could lead to potential frostbite. hypothermia or even death. you want to make sure are you dressing warmly. and relief. detroit, 32. by friday, still well below average. for new york, typically 38 degrees for this time of the year. today, high of 21. thursday and friday, 22, 25 degrees. now, as we show you some storm

jennifer delgado is tracking that storm. >>> you thought it was cold yesterday in washington, d.c.res and what it feels like through parts of the upper midwest, plains, and ohio valley. look at those wind chill values. minus 39 in duluth. minus 22 in minneapolis. of course, these temperatures are barely making it above the freezing mark. and this cold air has invaded parts of the u.s. it's not going anywhere. you can see for yourself, anywhere in blue we have a wind chill advisory. that means wind chill values today and even some locations through tomorrow, they're going to be down to minus 35. that includes parts of west virginia and areas like pennsylvania as well as into new york. so we're going to be cold as we go through the next couple days. we are going to see a little warmup and potential for some areas to deal with hypothermia and frostbite. you want to make sure you're really bunld willing up outside. the other story, we're dealing with snow. some of that coming down through parts of eastern massachusetts. you can see cape cod as well as into areas. really just north of b

jennifer delgado is in the weather center keeping an eye on things for us. jennifer? >>> hi, carol.range is the area that we're really concerned about. you see for northern parts of louisiana into the boothill of missouri, some of these storms that are going to be developing as we go through even tomorrow could produce some very damaging winds or, of course, some tornadoes. and we point out to you overnight tornadoes because those are the biggest threat, of course, with so many people sleeping. we have two tornado watches into arkansas, missouri. lightning associated with the storm. as we go through the afternoon, more storms will be developing. we said we're really concerned about the evening and the skroechb hours. of course so many people sleeping. as we take you through the clock, if you notice, 11:00, line of storms really starts to fire up. and that's where the greatest concern is. that's why we tell people all the time to make sure that they have a weather radio. you want to make sure this is on and you have batteries. this would certainly save your life. again, this is the n
