jennifer franciotti live from roland park with more on the story. it looks like the suspects are after quick cash. they hit the man on a bicycle to get his money. police said the first happened around 2:00 a.m., a 40-year-old was getting out of her car when approached by three suspects. >> they approached her gunpoint, ordered her into our vehicle and drove her to an atm and her neighborhood where she withdrew currency. >> they say the suspects released her unharmed. but 10 minutes later the same suspects targeted and 19-year- old man riding a bike. they struck the victim with their car purity fell off his bicycle. went up to him to make sure he was ok. that point, they forced him into their vehicle. they asked him if he had an atm card. he did not. it took other personal property from him. >> both victims working closely with police and were able to give descriptions. two white males and one black male. both had guns. they say the driving a dodge stratus. >> it is scary there are people out there to get you. but did you have to use common sense. th

welcome to 11 news sunday morning, i'm jennifer franciotti. >> i'm lisa robinson. our top stories in a moment but first let's look outside with tony pann. >> it's going to be a nice day today, warmer. >> good for the ravens game. >> if you're lucky enough to hold tickets, it's a good one. currently clouds out there, 53 degrees at airport. we started in the 40's this morning and will climb to above-average conditions this afternoon. the average high is 67 and we should smoke into -- sneak intoe low 70's with a mix of sun and clouds. i'll be back in a few minutes to check the seven-day forecast. >> looking at news making headlines this morning. a man has died and another recovering after a shooting outside of a house party in anne arundel county around one 1:30 a.m. in the 7000 block of outing avenue in south pasadena. we are told the unidentified man suffered non-life-threatening injuries but morrow died. >> a shooting in north baltimore is a homicide investigation. investigators say officers found 18-year-old tashawna jones lying in the 300 block of east 26th aroun

. >> we have live coverage with tony pann, jennifer franciotti and ava marie in ocean city. we begin with tony who's been tracking the storm from the weather center. >> this is not going to be a worst-case scenario for maryland but not a walk in the park, either. the storm is 200 miles off the coast of the outer banks of north carolina right now so a good distance from us. 58 at the airport, cloudy skies and windy out there, northeast wind at the airport at 15. winds will continue out of the north-northeast today at 10 to 25 miles per hour but not much rainfall around baltimore so a decent day to get things you got run around, no big deal. there is heavy rain along the eastern shore shifting towards baltimore later tonight. today, showers, breezy, temperatures in the low 60's. the worst part of the storm for us will be mondayach -- monday afternoon and monday night with heavy rain, instead winds 30 to 50 miles per hour. wind diminishing on tuesday but turning cold and there could be snow in the mountains on tuesday. obviously a complicated forecast. i'll go through it step b

jennifer franciotti has that story. >> police have the suspects in its caught on camera and they are hoping someone will recognize him. police want you to take a good look at this man. images were captured when he installed cameras inside bedrooms. >> he entered the apartment multiple times and each time capturing his own image on video. >> one of the victims called police immediately. no one seems to know how this man ended up getting inside their condo. >> the women have not been able to identify the suspect for us, and our investigators have done research into recent contractors and maintenance workworkers in e area. >> people who live in this community are concerned. >> that is obviously a little scary and it makes you question the security in the community. just go to our web site if you would like to see a picture of the suspect. you can see it all there on our home page. >> a 21-year-old anne arundel county man faces 124 counts of animal cruelty. officers carried out various animals including a python, turtles, a baby, and a host of dogs and cats. some animals on the property

i'm jennifer franciotti. the time right now 7:55.t some of the morning's top stories. a great moment for the orioles as the birds take down the texas rangers. it happened last night 5-1. o's fans have been celebrating all night long. orioles supporters took to the streets of downtown after the final game cheering, showing off their black and orange gear. there's plenty of cause to celebrate. it's been a victory they've been waiting for for more than a decade. >> i can't put into words what happened. just an unbelievable win. we've been waiting 15 years from this. we've been loyal fans. like buck showalter said, we've been waiting for the opportunity to show up and support our team. >> local businesses now have two days to prepare for a huge tourism boost. the birds host the yankees sunday night at baltimore park. >>> a firefighter fell through a home while trying to battle flames. this was the scene monday morning in the 7,000 block of bolona avenue. the home was burglarized first and then an excellent was used to spread that fire. t

right now we're going to go live to jennifer franciotti. jennifer? >> it is so interesting being here because you definitely get realtime information. i've been checking the website for b.g.e. the number for power outages still at about 200,000 but we have learned it jumped to 351,000 power outages. joining me is governor o'malley. >> those 350,000 power outages are state-wide. a sporgs b.g.e. and a portion pepco. tree limbs snapping power lines. that's the reality we're going to be dealing with. >> people starting generators and maybe lighting their home with candles. >> that is a bad thing. candles bad. flashlights are good. we had some people die because of a misuse of generators a couple of storms back. >> what are you hearing about the conditions in western maryland? >> heavy snows falling in garrett county. we have a big pileup. it is a real mess out there. state police are working their way to those motorists now. we had to close westbound 68 because of the tractor trailers. then the traffic started backing up and as the snow fell they could n

jennifer franciotti has been following the story all morning and has the latest. >> you can see the remains of this house behind me with debris on the deck. family members described a very dramatic scene, including a stepfather who had to jump for his life and a mother who had to throw her own baby out a window to safety. utter devastation for a family grieving the loss of four small children and their grandmother. the scene on that the 5600 block of denwood avenue was caught on cell phone video by a neighbor. he describes waking up to sirens and smoke. >> smoke, fire. you could see the fire coming out of the windows. the fire department was trying to get it out the best they can. >> 10 people were reportedly inside the house when it caught fire around 2:00 a.m. several had to jump from windows. >> she jumped out. >> with reports of children trapped inside, firefighters went to the second floor. they encountered problems of their own there. >> firefighters went through the conditions to suppress the fire and get to the second floor where it was reported that people are. during that time, th

i'm jennifer franciotti in for sarah caldwell. >> when will we see the storm along the east coast in our area? john, we are interested in what you have to say. >> that is right, the whole key is where this track is and models and how this is going to behave. i will let this spaghetti chart drawn out for you. there are a variety of solutions as to where the storm may wind up. the consensus seems to be somewhere along the coast or in new york city or something. we will use these various models to try to get an idea of where it is going to go. the present thought is that there are predominant models out there. there is the cgs model and then the high resolution model. the european model has been the most consistent and that puts it in ocean city monday afternoon. the other model put it in new york city tuesday afternoon. a big difference between those two models. and then another model puts it monday evening near providence, rhode island. those dots that are happening there are pretty small. no matter where the storm lands, is going to be a huge storm. any of those three locations as we

i'm jennifer franciotti.l get to our top stories in a moment but first we want to check with john collins on the progress of tropical storm sandy. >> sandy is still off the florida coast coming this way, just a little weaker, 70 mile-an-hour winds, but beginning to throw clouds our way, high, thin clouds over us made for a beautiful sunrise this morning but the rains are down near cape hatteras. most of the day will be fine. the other element in the storm is the rain to the west associated with a cold front. that will stall for a while as the storm comes up. it's a point of indecision at this stage and we are caught in this vise between the two weather systems but they ultimately come in here with a bang it looks like next week. over the weekend, things are ok, especially today. not bad today. generally cloudy, showers late, east-northeast winds at 5 to 10, 60's for highs. seven-day forecast, periods of rain showers tomorrow but heaviest stuff monday and tuesday when we catch the winds. by tuesday, much colde

i'm jennifer franciotti. the time right now 7:55.the morning's top stories. howard county police arrested this man in a bizarre peeping tom case. 42-yr-old michael mckenny faces burglary, visual surveillance and videotaping without consent charges. we're told numerous tips led police to the suspect after police showed the video thursday and friday. police believe mckenny knew the victims. investigators are now working to notify two other women who were all recorded in a separate incident. mckenny's being held on $100,000 bond. >>> one year after the murder of a baltimore county man, family members are offering a $10,000 reward to find his killers. baltimore county police found ernest gails shot to death inside a car on salt lake drive last october. authorities released surveillance pictures of three of the suspects on friday and the victim's mother hopes the pictures will lead to an arrest. >> that's what we are hoping for today. that somebody will look at these pictures and recognize these guys and make a phone call that will help u

. >> and i'm jennifer franciotti. that super storm could hit anywhere from north carolina to new england in the coming days. what all that means? all hands on deck. >> 11 news has team coverage of sandy's potential impact with rob roblin and david collins and we begin with john collins in the weather center. what are the latest models predicting? >> the main event is still a couple of days away so the weekend, we will see some of the effects but the real blast comes the start of next week. sandy has been downgraded in the past 20 minutes to a tropical storm, it's a technical thing. winds are down to 70 miles an hour. before they downgraded it, the winds were 75. it's a minor thing and it's possible the storm will pick up strength again. the center of the storm will run over the gulf stream which is warm water so sandy will fluctuate wind-wise over the next couple of days. the two elements of storm on the radar, sandy, wide swath of rain from cape hatteras to the coast of florida and we have the other element, the cold

possible by group]lation energy >> good morning and welcome to 11 news sunday morning, i'm jennifer franciotti. >> i'm lisa robinson. first we will look outside with meteorologist tony pann. >> i think the weather is one of the top story today. quite a change. a couple of days ago it was 81 degrees. now it's freezing. >> today it's stuck in the 50. the average high this time of year is 70 degrees and we will probably only make it up to 55, 15 degrees below average. right now it's 51 at the airport. we have light rain to contend with this morning. the rain is not the big deal, a nuisance during the day tapering off late this afternoon and this evening. but temperatures will feel more like football weather. off-and-on rain showers today, the high around 55 degrees. game-time temperatures to start will be in the 50's. by the time the game ends, tell probably be in the 40's but at least the rain will be gone late this afternoon, this evening. we will talk more about that and check the seven-day forecast in a few minutes. >> our big story this morning, a huge sunday for baltimore sports fans beginn
