stay tuned to enter "the war room" with jennifer grandholm. >> record top line in the quarter of all quarters in history. record profit per share, we're pretty happy about all of that. >> that's caterpillar's ceo, celebrating his company's record-breaking quarter. the heavy equipment maker is reporting a $1.7 billion profit which is a 67% spike over last year. another way to look at it is the company's profits were equal to about $39,000 per employee. normally i would totally crack open the champagne, nothing makes me happier than seeing an american company doing well in the united states. but my conscious will not allow me to join the high fiving and that's because caterpillar's management has asked about 780 workers to accept a six-year wage and pension freeze. six years. the workers have demanded cost of living increases, and lower health care premiums, and they have refused caterpillar's us offer, and they have been striking since may 1st. here is the cherry on top. last year, caterpillar's chairman, which you just saw, got an $11 million bonus on top of his $6 million salary. ch
