presentation by jennifer johnson, deputy public defender, behavioral health court. thank you, ms. johnson for being with us today. >> thank you and thank you for having me. before i talk about crisis intervention training i want to acknowledge that this body is something that i am very pleased to come before. about, i don't want to say how long but close to a decade you supported funding for the very first study of our behavioral health court. it was one of the first studies of any mental health court in any country. it's widely cited and replicated. i want to thank you for putting us on the map. i want to let you know how much we appreciate your advocate for mental health court. i want to talk to you about collaboration. i think it's no longer unprecedented to see the police department and public defenders office to speak in unison. it is very, that type of collaboration has not been easy. the criminal justice system is an adverse real system and it should be adversarial and will remain adversarial. when it comes to mental health disabilities or other disabilities that are ending

jennifer donleon thank you very much. getting lot of great information for us. a few minutes ago we had the public information officer chris johnsonhe give a very brief statement to our sam ford who is down there on the scene. let's listen to what he had to say. >> the entire base is on lockedown. buildings individually are locked down. everyone has been ordered to shelter in place but there has been no confirmed details. >> so that was chris johnson's public information officer from the naval c. systems command. he answered a couple more questions after that from reporters there. he had very limited information other than there was a potential shooting, active shooter situation there the a the navy yard. again involving building 197 which as we unfortunately know and remember with the site of the horrific 2013 murder by aaron alexis where 12 people were shot dead as they arrived to work. one september morning. three other people were injured. the gunman alexis was killed in a shoot-out with police. if you are just joining us this has been unfolding for the last 45 minutes when the first calls began coming in for reports of shoots
