jennifer: i love it. your state also has the benefit of having a very low unemployment rate.u are doing okay on that score, but the state also cut funds to higher education by 50% last year. how do you restore that? would you consider a sales tax or income tax too make up the difference? >> no i wouldn't. we have as you pointed out, a really strong economy, which we have had for a long time without an income or sales tax. so we have also balanced our budget without a sales or income tax, we're going to continue to do that but i did outline plans for restoring funding to the university system because what will move us forward is making sure we have an innovate innovatation-based economy. so we're going to reverse some of the bad decisions that this last legislature made and find a way to move forward. >> jennifer: explain how that works, because having been a governor i know you have got to find the revenue, you also saw more than 50% support for a constitutional amendment to ban the state income tax. where do you find the funds? >> we have a unique structure in new hampshire,

low but they're going--they're not going to hire aggressively. that's what we need to get to austin's 250 k per month. >> jennifer: once the election is over, and it'stled who will be leading our nation, they cut some deal in congress beaver the fiscal cliff then you think you'll start to see greater jobs numbers every month? >> yes it's confidence. >> jennifer: yes, so austin, let me ask you we just learned that the congressional republicans pressured the nonpartisan research service to withdraw a report that reached some conclusions about what works to stimulate economic growth. what is in that report? why are they so scared? >> well, because the report--i know the report well. the report says how much do high-income tax rates matter for the growth rate in the country? and the answer, which they found, which should be obvious to anyone who would sit down and at the data cut high income tax rates does no generate growth in the country. it's not jack's magic bean talk bean. it didn't create growth when george bush did it, and the report went through statistics of many decades of data that would verify what anybody would know if they looked at it. >>

. >> jennifer: who hasn't seen one of the commercials of walmart proths the lowest prices? the reason they can make that claim is because of the lowt pays. the average annual salary for walmart sales associate is $15,500 a year. that's about even with the federal poverty level for a two-person household. last year, walmart reported $15.7 billion in profits. and walmart's ceo michael duke's take-home pay his pay package was $18.1 million. that makes him the second highest paid ceo on the fortune 500 list. so fed up with their low wages employees are pushing back. holding protests for the past several months and on friday, which is typically of course, the busiest shopping day of the year workers at walmarts all across the country are going to stage a massive walkout.
