jennifer reuben, an opinion writer for the washington post and msnbc political analyst, author of resistanceefore this important conversation. jennifer, you knife talked for many many years, we haven't really talked about your evolution around abortion. you're a columnist, it's all in writing, so, anyone can look it up. tell me whether there is been an evolution and pro life has meant to you and how that may have changed over the years? >> well, i think the original opinion and roe had from a first credential point of view shows some issues. after 15 years, after we have really made tremendous progress for women and all aspects of society, i came to believe, others came to believe, that this was settled law. there is also something else to keep in mind, there may have been a time in america where the democratic process of negotiation and compromise was possible, that is not possible now, both because the state legislators are not responsive to the voters, the state districts are highly gerrymandered, there isn't true democracy. the republican party has gone insane, frankly. now they're talki

jennifer reuben's. make some sense of what happened this last week.nts, there are glimmers of hope for parts of the republican party and some conservative some republicans in this country, and then there were some disastrous stuff that went on. with maga election deniers, winning very very solemnly. what do you make of what happened? >> i think by and large donald trump still has an iron grip on the republican party. that the number of election deniers as well as the number of republicans who voted for impeachment tour defeated, tells me that the republican party is very much in the maga camp. as you outlined we have a very dangerous situation because secretaries of state attorneys general governors are the people who review elections, run elections, certify elections, and if those people are thoroughly corrupt and essentially have decided a democrat will never win this state again, that our democracy collapses and our presidential election system collapses. so these are going to be very serious races. and as you said, the electorate is going to have

it will be a little bit of a mistake to go in the direction that jennifer reuben said earlier to assume that 60% of kansans are pro choice. it's that they are against extremism. that's the key thing to take away from here, that the republican extremism of putting such a thing on the ballot was rejected. when i'm gonna be looking for that data driven narrative to tells me, how much of an increase in young people were there? because that's gonna be important come 2022. what was the suburban turnout looking like? how many republican women supported this, not because they are overwhelmingly pro-choice, because they do believe there should be some option and that this extremism cannot be accepted? i think this is an important thing. i think it's gonna be a key motivator to get people to the polls, but i still do not think that come 2022 it'll be the top issue on the ballot. >> and cornell, one of the things susan said that is important to note, the can't assume that a voter is coming into vote no is pro choice. perhaps they have a nuance to take and might even be personally pro-life, but is
