last night, jessica king and jennifer shilling beat their republican incumbent opponents in what was seen as a referendum on walker's agenda which included taking away collective bargaining rights from employees. democrats fell one short of what they needed to become the senate majority in wisconsin. republicans remain in control of the wisconsin senate now, 17-16. two democrats still face recall elections of their own next news in order to trigger a recall election of governor walker in 2012, democrats will need to gather 543,208 signatures starting in november. walker carefully avoided a partisan victory lap over last night's republican wins, issuing this statement.
