i agree with jeremy. this is very much his issue. irony here is if he hadn't been doing the showboating, he had some very serious, legitimate, reasonable amendments to this nsa patriotic act legislation that probably would have been accepted but he spent a week antagonizing his own republican colleagues so much with what he'd done that they essentially wouldn't take up his amendment. so in the end, he wound up setting back his libertarian cause, his civil liberties cause, but gained himself some publicity in the act of doing that. did that help his campaign in the long run? i don't know. the idea that he's been flailing a bit, anyway his campaign hasn't taken off, presumably his calculation is getting his face on the broadcast and his name in the headlines is going to help him. >> he did benefit if from some fortunate timing here. the book tour just happened to core inside with this vote. the book tour had been planned for months. i don't know that i would view it quite that cynically. i do think that there is benefit here in rand re
