because there's a stark difference here between the johnson tories and what they're offering and jeremy corbin, he's probably the most left wing labor leader i can recall in my lifetime. what are the differences? >> well, absolutely labor and this election is offering their most radical left wing platform, at least since 1983 when they were running against margaret thatcher. i think you're talking about increasing annual spending by about 10% which is really an enormous amount of money that they're talking about, dramatic expansion of public services, nationalization of a wide swath of industries, such as railways, broad band service. i think labor under jeremy corbin is really hoping this election would give them the opportunity to completely remake the british economy in a very left wing direction. i think that the challenge for them is it's not clear that british voters are nearly that radical. it's a deeply mostly conservative country in the sense that people are a little resistant to change, so it has been a tough sell for labor and corbin. paul: briefly, joe, labor's trying to use donald

>> do you think jeremy corbin -- >> i know nothing about the gentleman, really, jeremy corbin, know nothing about him. >> -- [ indiscernible ] >> i think nato should always be in dialogue with russia. i think you can have a very good relationship with russia. i don't think there's any problem at all with the secretary general speaking with russia. i think it's important to do. >> -- the importance of having dialogue with russia, dialogue's our biggest neighbor. we will strive for a better relationship with russia. but we do that based on what we call the dual track approach. we have to be strong. for us it's defense and dialogue and that's what we are doing. especially when it comes to arms control. we need to avoid a new arms race, we need to avoid a new cold war. an arms race is dangerous and expensive. russia has violated the treaty which banned all the -- [ indiscernible ] we were able to respond in a unified way. we agreed that russia was in violation. we supported the decision. a treaty won't work if it's not respected by one side. now nato allies are addressing how should we respond.

as you know the general election the foam a bit towns they voted for boris johnson against the jeremy corbin project which wanted to reintroduce free dental care and reduce the number of a ties to contract element within the national health service why do you think that i can't explain that but i can say that. there was. a democratic referendum in this country in 2016 and it was won by those wishing to leave the european union and almost from the minute after that election there was a massive campaign to deny the legitimacy of that democratic referendum and the whole issue of bricks that then failing to bizarrely but very significantly into the hands of the extreme right in britain. of which the prime minister is is one i can only guess that people who voted to leave the european union for all kinds of reasons. felt that their voice had been treated with contempt doesn't deed it was. in many ways there was a class war. and why. as somebody said to me the other day the poor should vote for more poverty the sick should vote for more sickness i can't answer that question but that certainly happ

supporters want breaks it to happen they voted for him but it's more than that i think it was jeremy corbin many people including labor voters didn't like jeremy corbyn he didn't like they didn't like what he stood for they didn't feel that he was a leader and although maybe they didn't they don't love boris johnson in their minds he was considered more of a leader than than jeremy corbyn and that has really hurt labor even though at the moment many of them are not admitting that ok so it came down to a race between 2 men and how they portray themselves to the public is well let's take a listen now to what boris johnson had to say earlier today. but i thought oh i want to thank i want to thank the people of this country for turning out to vote in a december election that we didn't want to call it which i think has turned out to be a historic election that gives us now in this new government the chance to respect the democratic will of the british people to change this country for the better and to unleash the potential of the entire people of this country and that is what we will not do and
