jeremy peters wants to jump in. jeremy. >> i think mike is exactly right. mischievous is rand paul's m-o. he loves to needle his opponents, especially hillary clinton we haven't discussed, forgot the financial market he is teasing his other fellow republicans. if you put this in the context of what we have been discussing lately which is romney. how does romney factor into a 2016 nominating contest. i was talking to one of rand paul's successors who sums up how candidates on the right look at this which is wow, i don't get this lucky to have three candidates, jepp christie and maybe romney now dividing up the establishment vote. i think a lot of the more conservative candidates running for president look at that as something good for them. >> what you usually have is one establishment candidate, 20 people on the right who chop thing up the establishment can get 25 or 35% and win. that's not the case if romney jeb and christie are running. >> that's true. on the other hand, i think they have to be a little too smug or a little too glib. a lot of conservative

>>ier my >> jeremy peter, we've all seen the positive jeb press. we've seen mitt romney, they can't stand him. i tweeted a couple of polls this weekend that showed mitt romney way ahead of everybody else. i just tweeted and said, yeah you know what all of these experts are right. nobody wants mitt romney to run except republican voters. and then jeb on the other side jeb has gotten such growing press and painted as the night in shining armor but i've been seeing polls for the past six months that show a real real skepticism of him. not only in the base but also especially when you get to the general election. >> i think a lot of that is name recognition, frampg lynkly. this early on, this far away from november 2016. i think people -- that's kind of a quirk in these early, early polls that you have to take into account. i still don't see right now how mitt romney overcomes the baggage that he has with regard to his past and private equity especially when there is going to be an election at both sides going to be fought on economic pop pop populism.

jeremy peters?poverty is a subject of bipartisan concern. mr. gates, i've seen you in the capitol recently what looked to be high-profile meetings with lawmakers. i wonder what needs to be done to make sure we can reach a bipartisan solution on poverty legislation, and what you might be doing to help broker that? >> well, i think the biggest area that we're falling short of our ideals equal opportunity, is in the education system. inner city schools do not engage the students the dropout levels are very high. even a lot of kids that graduate aren't prepared so that they can succeed in college. so it's the quality of education, taking the best ideas from charter schools, giving teachers feedback so they can improve. i think if you only had one wish to drive that and reduce poverty it would be bring in the u.s. education system up to the quality that some of the other countries have managed to achieve in the last decade. >> bill and melinda gates, a great team. thank you so much. we appreciate your be
