you know, jermaine's talking about the images that you most likely saw today, in the newspaper. if you watch television online, while you were at work, chaos in the streets of missouri, in the united states. i want to bring in the former st. louis police chief. you know, some of these images that we've seen are pretty striking. you have an american battlefield, in a sense, some of these images. look at this picture here. iraq on the left, ferguson, missouri, on the right. there are many others like this when you see police in full tear gas mode with protesters. here's obviously two soldiers with gun, one in iraq, and one a police officer in ferguson, missouri. how is it possible that this situation merits that sort of a response? >> well, they are striking images for the united states. we usually don't see that type of response in our country. what i think is that both the protesters and the police got locked in this cycle of escalation. unfortunately, there were no lines of communication between the two, and so we are where we are today. >> so what do you think about the point
