general kathleen cane has just released a new report criticizing the way the investigation into the jerry sandusky child sex abuse scandal was handled. "nbc 10's" matt deloosh live in the center. what did the ag have to say? >> she said there were several errors that kept jerry sandusky free even though there was evidence of keeping him. there were inexplicable delays in bringing the serial child molester to justice starting with a failure to search jerry sandusky's home for well over a year after the first victim came forward. in 2010 one investigator recommended filing several charges but was apparently told by senior leadership at the ag's office that more victims were necessary to move that case forward. this report that was just released is several hundred pages in length. deputy a.g. jeff moulton who reviewed this case with kane says there were several missed opportunities to get the story on sandusky and charge him even from the youth services level. >> sandusky was interviewed by cys without the participation of a criminal investigator, without anybody from the district attorney's

jerry brown coasted to the general election. he will face republican neel kashkari. tim donnelly conceded overnight. >> and in the race to replace termed out san jose mayor chuck reed it will be dave cortese and sam liccardo locking horns up in the november runoff. >> willthey finished one and two last night with the vice mayor madison nguyen finishing third in the field of eight candidates. kiet do joins us live from san jose city hall to explain what happens next. >> reporter: yeah, good morning. the powerful labor unions came out in force for cortese. it showed him the numbers and in the party last night. cortese spoke to reporters saying he wants to return san jose to the kind of city it was when he was on the city council, the safest big city in america. the mayor's race is a referendum on chuck reed's administration and whether or not measure b pension reform went too far. sam liccardo is considered a reed ally and even though 70% of the voters supported measure b, do they want to stay on this current path or head in a dif

we know that jerry sandusky, here we go, now my mic's on. we're going to hear aesht the report in about two hours, what we know right now is that jerry sandusky went three, four years after his first accuser came forward and we're going to find out whether the investigation to led to his conviction ultimately was delayed because of politics. so we -- there was, it was quite a big delay. we know he's serving a 30-60 year sentence for 456 counts of sexual assaulting ten boys. today's pennsylvania attorney general plans to release the comprehensive account. kathleen cain vowed during her campaign for the attorney general's office to review the case, repeatedly questioning why it took three years for charges to be filed against sandusky. she argued that her predecessors took too long and wasted time while that suspected serial abuser remained free. one of the predecessors is the current governor, tom corbit was the attorney general at the time and was in charge of the investigation. sandusky's trial and investigator with the ag's office said tha

jerry parker died when he jumped out of his plane right before it crashed. the plane took off from livermore municipal airport just before 5:00 on saturday. witnesses say a few minutes later, the plane caught fire and went down. the crash started a brush fire north of 580. burned about one and a half acres before crews put it out. >>> the tide may be turning against ocean front landowners who try to block public access to beaches. for the first time the california coastal commission can now fine property owners who intentionally impede access. in the past, the commission could only take violators to court and had limited resources to be effective. now, the burden shifts from the commissions to the property owner. >> so before i could say okay, you're doing something wrong, we think, they'd get into a long, protracted court argument, the judge would throw his or her hand up and say i don't know what these guys are talking about. nop clarity here. all that's gone now. >> beach access is at the center of a dispute involving martins beach near half-moon bay wher

while jerry brown -- the jerry brown race, he's going to win re-election and might win by a big numberber. but if the republicans nominate tim donnelly as their candidate, it will be interesting to see how the rest of the republicans in that state handle him. do they totally distance themselves? do they say they're not going to be supportive? does he hurt down the ballot? there are a lot of interesting congressional races on the ballot. so those are among the three most interesting story lines i think of this election. and then i'll add a fourth and it's the lack of action in south dakota. how did tom daschle and harry reid allow personal politics to get in the way and personal petty rivalries to get in the way to not make south dakota competitive. it is an amazing backstory there. there was a pretty good column about that this morning. >> handing over a senate seat, i agree. chuck todd, political analysis from warsaw, thank you. >> reporter: all right, my friend. >>> still ahead we'll go live to bowe bergdahl's hometown where his friends and family are fighting back against the anger
