he said cowboys owner jerry jones was not involved.r how you look at this it's bad news for governor christie who has been under heavy criticism for bridge-gate, has spurred calls for reform in the port authority. governors christie and cuomo recently vetoed legislative overhaul of the authority. instead they pushed for a set of changes written by a panel they appointed. one of the proposals could end overnight p.a.t.h. train service for new york and new jersey. this move would leave working-class people with no way to get home after work in the late hours. bartenders waitresses doormen, construction workers and other night shift workers would be in a pretty tough spot. their costs would go up. new jersey mayor told "new york times," if either governor actually rode the train during these hours, they would have never considered this. it's easy for christie to push for reforming like this while flying on a private jet to see the cowboys. christie's office has justified gifts from jones by citing new jersey's executive order 77. it says

jerry, you made a great argument about cost. i can get this many ohio replacements for one forward class. that is great from a cost perspective, but what do you think of how many ohio replacements i need for the same capabilities? the aircraft carrier, while maybe somewhat suspect between what you say about how vulnerable it is, nothing can compare to it in what it can deliver. i'm all about undersea warfare and bringing back the ss gn's, but have you looked at capabilities and capacity? >> take two points here. one is about the delivery. one of the things that shocked me when i began my analysis on this in 2009 was how much ordnance we had dropped. the number actually surprised me. it was around 14,000 pieces of ordnance over 14 years. that's based upon repurchase rates, how much we were spending . when we talk about dropping ordnance -- and that took into account everything from missiles to bombs. the amount of ordnance that we look at may be lower than what you think. we are entering an era of precision strike where we are no

i guess my questions go to jerry.nt to probe at just a bit is the cost issue that you raise. and it seems that rather than the carrier you would default to a submerged strike capability. it's probably why the u.s. navy has decided not to go forward with the replacements for the ohio ssgn. because of coast, probably. so why would you want to do that in a submerged plat form rather than a surface platform. and i'm not talking now about necessarily a supercarrier. but there are other -- there are other surface assets in which one could place strike assets. can driblt those across a wide range. and probably get vulnerability. if you're not going to put strike assets, if you're not going to emphasize a carrier for your strike platform why would e would you want to submerge it? >> i'll try to give you a su sint answer. i use the ssgn because it's the most prominent kparm of strike platforms that we currently see. there's actually a range of capenties. there are unmanned capableties that we look at that operate in the near s
