[applause] >> mike thompson. everybody knows him in this body. this is the amount veteran came home, an avid hunter, a great member of the ways and means committee and also designated by our leader as the chair of the task force, which he has no for the past four years. he will explain just what we are asking for in terms of the vote. >> [applause] >> thank you. a number of colleagues have asked, what is it that the republicans are afraid of in regards to the legislation we would like to provoke? it's probably a good idea to explain it. here's what we are asking. we're asking for a vote on the no-buy.wn as no-fly, it means if you are on the terrorist watch list, you should be able to buy a gun will stop if you are on the terrorist watch list, not only can you legally buy a gun, but you can legally buy explosives. peoplethe american understand how foolish this is. so we are asking for a vote to fix it, to make certain that if someone is on the terrorist watch list they can't buy a gun and they can't buy explosives. there is nothing sneaky about it
