jesse gary is live this morning. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. we may our way to atlantic county here at the jersey shore. we've seen a little lightning off in the distance just off the coast. but nothing like we saw as we made our way down. lightning vertically and horizontally. the heavy rain we're experiencing up in the philadelphia area, that has stopped. right now though, it is extremely windy. the wind is gusting here at the jersey shore. let's take a look at the video. you can feel the wind. you can hear the surf in the darkness. that surf is creating a danger of rip currents. officials from the southern cities and states up the eastern seaboard are stressing caution, mainly, do not go out adventure seeking trying to ride the large waves. it can be dangerous. state of emergency for more than two dozen counties in north carolina and then warnings for coastal communities up here. how does all of this impact other plans you may have for your fourth such as fireworks? we've been investigating that. we'll have that for you coming up in the next

jesse gary is along the coastline where they're getting ready for the effects of now hurricane arthur coming up the coast. good morning, gary. >> bill, good morning to you. yeah. now it's getting brighter out site. the sun just peeking over the horizon. you can see the impacts on the surf here. surf is rough. look at those waves. all of this with officials warning of the dangers of rip currents. now look at our video. rip currents are created by a wave's energy that piles up along the water line, along the shoreline. experts say the water file up and then rushes back out to sea, back out to the ocean creating that rip current. people caught in them are pulled away from the shore and into the ocean. officials with the u.s. lifeguard association say each year more than 100 people drown due to rip currents. last sunday a 14-year-old philadelphia boy drowned off the ninth street beach in ocean city when rip currents pulled him out to sea. if you are caught in a rip current, stay calm. do not try to swim back to the beach against the current. just going to make yourself more tired. instead

jesse gary is live at the scene of that explosion in feltonville.at an unbelievable scene captured on that camera. >> reporter: the scene is still here this morning being guarded by one philadelphia police officer sitting in that cruiser. debris and glass still litter the sidewalk near the corner of north 3rd and west wyoming avenue. let's take a look at the video chris mentioned. this is a surveillance video from a nearby business. the blast from the la parrillada chapina food truck shot flames about 200 feet into the air. a neighboring homes and businesses were shaken on their foundations and 12 people injured. septa police officers heard the explosion from across the street inside their building. they were the first to get to the scene to try and help. investigators say mother and daughter were inside the food truck at the time of the blast. right now those two people are in critical condition at temple university hospital. a 13-year-old girl is at st. christopher's hospital upgraded from critical to stable and a 23-year-old woman is also at temp
