nbc 10's jesse gary is live for us on scene. jesse, are firefighters starting to have an upper hand on this fire yet? >> reporter: well, chris, they are to a certain degree. they've been able to prevent the flames from spreading, but you can see there's still burning on the roof, the top right corner and the top, back left corner, where the flames are heaviest. they have been able to get an upper hand, but they have not tapped out this blaze just yet. i just talked to the deputy fire commissioner on scene, who says there's been a partial roof collapse of this three-story, abandoned apartment building. the falling roof material is blocking water from getting to some of the portions that are still on fire, and that's led to the continued burning of flames. now, several residents from the house next door have been evacuated as a precaution. they have been sheltered in a septa bus, and many of them are going to go to relatives' houses until they are allowed back inside. one firefighter suffered a minor injury, was taken to the hospit

nbc 10's jesse gary is live at the scene in bustleton. jesse, what can you tell us? >> reporter: well, tracy, i can tell you new information. we just talked with chief inspector scott small, who says this robbery today continues a pattern over the past month. this is the seventh target store to be burglarized over the past month, and the state police are here investigating. they believe one of the people involved in this is wanted in connection to the other six burglaries over the past month. right now they are using canine units inside to search this vast store, pharmacy, store, the storage area, back, loading deck area. the area is searched for just two suspects, and police say that presents a problem. >> many of these places cannot effectively be searched by a canine dog. the dog just cannot get to some of the areas. they're just too high or they're just in too convoluted a location inside the store. so, we're going to have to search not only with the dogs, but then once the dogs are through and if that search is negative, we're going to have to put police officer

nbc 10's jesse gary is live outside police headquarters. ed. >> reporter: tracy, this young boy was crossing the street when he got hit. now the investigation is centered on whether or not the officer had lights and sirens on as he was responding to that police call. the accident that claimed a 10-year-old's life happened last night as the victim and two friends walked to a sleepover. the boy's family says the 10-year-old crossed delsea drive, which is also route 47 never saw the police cruiser before it hit and killed him. the coroner has scheduled an autopsy for today. the gloucester county prosecutor's office is also investigating. last year one delaware valley police department changed its policy. philadelphia police officers responding to a call must get permission before they can go lights and sirens. that was done to try to reduce the number of police-involved crashes. we're live in franklin township gloucester county jesse gary, nbc 10 news. >>> 6:33 now. new from overnight, we just got in this new video of the aftermath of a fire in

let's go now to nbc 10's jesse gary is mayfair with an update. jesse? >> reporter: chris, crime scene detectives as well as homicide detectives and 15th police district officers all on the scene here, still investigating how a traffic stop turned into a police-involved shooting in which the suspect was shot in the head and killed. his body's been taken to the medical examiner's office right now. investigators are combing the scene still. they've moved from the white dodge charger, which you see in this video. they are now searching some surrounding businesses. i'm told that there are surveillance cameras here, and investigators are hopeful that will provide more information as to what happened and how this escalated into an officer-involved shooting. there have been 26 officer-involved shootings in the city of philadelphia this year a year. in four of those, the suspect has died. philadelphia last year had 43 with 11 of those shootings being fatal. so, the numbers have been coming down. and you'll remember, back in 2012, commissioner ramsey asked the ju

nbc 10's jesse gary's live on the scene in northeast philadelphia. jesse, do investigators have any idea why this victim was targeted? >> reporter: no, they don't, not yet, vai. and neither does the man who lives inside the house. he had just walked outside. that is the friend of the victim. apparently, the victim was coming to see that man or they are both headed to philadelphia international airport when the robbery took place right outside here just steps from the front door. now, that gentleman you see there smoking, he was inside with his family. there appears to be a wife an an infant, when this all went down. again, investigators aren't sure exactly if there's some kind of business involved in this or whether this is just a crime of opportunity. in any case, the victim, the friend of that gentleman, was standing out here, was robbed of $7,000 cash. and then two armed men ran south on large street towards st. vincent street and disappeared. philadelphia police are looking for them right now. there is a police cruiser still on the sketreet. they

nbc 10's jesse gary is live in may fair, where a police officer shot and killed a suspect. jesse, tell us more. >> reporter: tracy, this on that white dodge charger that you see behind me. that's where the suspect was in that car, and they say there's a gun inside that car. two officers responded to this call, thinking that this vehicle may have been involved in a robbery, and that precipitated some kind of struggle and then the shooting. one shot fired that killed the suspect. now, i'm told that the officers involved in this -- remember, we've done a series of reports during the year about the 15th district and how residents wanted more officers in this district to help respond to police calls because the district is so large. i'm told the two officers involved in this shooting were both new officers, about 30 or so that were brought into this district this year. i'm told those two officers were part of that group of 30 and that one of the two fired the one time, killing the suspect. investigation continues. we're going to try and get some sound with police captain george p

nbc 10's jesse gary just got an update from police. he's live on the scene in mayfair. jesse, what can you tell us? >> reporter: i can tell you that he has a criminal repocord, according to police and is from the 5200 block of horrock street. he is a 26-year-old, but that's all they'll say at this point. the officer who fired and killed the suspect is at internal affairs giving a statement. his partner is in the hospital. detectives say he was really stressed out with stress and anxiety after this police-involved shooting, so he is at a hospital being evaluated right now. this happened just before 3:00 in the morning here in the 6600 block of frankford avenue in mayfair. investigators say they pulled over the white charger, dodge charger, for a traffic violation, and it's unclear how that escalated into a police-involved shooting, but they are looking into it, according to captain george fukes. >> the scene itself we have is the officers who discharged his shell casing's laying in the street on the driver's side rear of the suspect's car. and then we have blood on the si

nbc 10's jesse gary is live outside township police headquarters. jesse, tell us what happened. >> reporter: yeah, tracy, township police have not responded to my questions about whether the officers had on lights and sirens or their policy governing the use of lights and sirens. i'm hopeful they'll get back to me soon. i've also reached out to the county prosecutor trying goat new, updated information on the ongoing investigation. the accident happened just after 7:00 last night as the victim and two friends walked to a sleepover. the boy's family says the 10-year-old crossed delsea drive, which is also route 47 and was hit and killed by the officer. the two other children unharmed. witnesses say the patrol car did not have flashing lights or a siren activated. police have not confirmed or refuted that account. the officer who was behind the wheel was taken to a nearby hospital, undisclosed injuries. i've been looking online for a lot of people across the country believe that using the flashing lights, the sirens well that helps let people know that
