nbc 10's jesse gary is live in darby township where the officer lives. jesse, tell us more about the investigation. >> reporter: rosemary i've just been in touch with officials here at the township. they say the chief is due back here around 10:00 this morning. we hope to get more from him. at that point, we've also been in contact with the chief over at the bureau police department. and he says he will be working and in constant contact with the township chief during the -- all day today, as part of the ongoing investigation. investigators are still withholding the identity of the 26-year-old victim until all of the family members are notified but we're told that he was shot yesterday, once in the chest, in the second-floor bedroom inside his home on magnolia avenue. medics rushed him over to penn presbyterian, but he died because of the gunshot wound. neighbors say police had been called to the home before due to domestic dmutisputes with his girlfriend. and is a woman inside the home was interviewed overnight. this loss acutely felt by the people who s

but a woman was hit and killed here on the scene, i'm jesse gary "nbc 10 news." >>> and two attempted robberies happened near the west chester campus just days apart. one happened on east nields street and the other was on sharpless street. katy zachry is with information on who police are looking for. tell us more. >> reporter: hi, good morning. the recent suicide excuse me the robbery happened here after a man was hit in the face and the attackers ran away. that similar attack happened to a student last thursday night when that student was walking in the area of darlington and sharpless streets. this is right on campus. you can see from the video that we were there earlier with the attack happening near an emergency call box and an area with several dormitories. in that attack three men dressed in dark clothing very similarly demanded money. the student refused and was also struck. in both cases the attackers could run away. and now they are encouraging students to be on the lookout. if you have any information, call the west chester borough police. katy zachry for "nbc 10 news." >>

nbc 10's jesse gary is live in darby township where the officer lived. and jesse, neighbors are speaking out on this crime. what are they telling you? >> reporter: they are saying that they're saddened by this loss of life, but that the shooting scene has seen its share of trouble before in the form of domestic disputes. investigators are holding the identity of the 26-year-old victim until all of his family members are notified. but we're told he was shot yesterday once in the chest inside his bedroom on darby borough. medics rushed him to the hospital, but he died because of the gunshot wound. neighbors say police had been called to the home before because of domestic disputes with his officer. neighbors identify the woman inside the home was the girlfriend and they say the fallen officer was a very nice guy. >> two officers approached me and started questioning me like you know did you hear any gunshots this and that and i'm like, no what's going on. and they told me what happened down the street. i'm like wow, you know just shocked. >> reporter: also

nbc 10's jesse gary is live on the scene to tell us more. jesse?ary it is under control but still burning. you can see flames continue to burn towards the rear of the structure. this has been going on since about 2:20 this morning. let's take a look at our video. you can see the flames shooting from the windows of this 65,000 square foot facility. the fire commissioner says this was once a metals manufacturing facility on the first floor and on the second floor, some type of -- another manufacturing aspect on the second floor, graphics is what i think he said. in any case there could be residual materials from those visits left inside. that, perhaps, added to the veracity of the flames. we're talking about whether it's production materials, furniture, et cetera. all of that is combustible and that could have been what kept the flames going for so long for the past four hours. two collapses to tell you about. a collapse of the roof and a partial collapse of a rear wall -- interior wall towards the back of the building. no one was injured in those co

nbc 10's jesse gary has been walking us through what happened. he's live in old city. se, tell us the latest. >> reporter: good morning again to you, ted. detectives were here a few hours ago, up to a few minutes ago but they've left. now all that's left is a patrol car here on scene. this all started around 2:00 in the morning. if we take a look at our video, in a parking lot near black horse alley and second street here in old city. investigators say three men opened fire on one victim then they jumped in a cadillac and sped away from the scene. they went down second and then made a wrong turn on to chestnut, went the wrong way on chestnut, which is westbound. down the block, ultimately veered uxç on to the sidewalk and tried to run down a philadelphia police officer. that officer, his partner opened fire at that vehicle. they ultimately were able to take the three suspects into custody. the one person that those suspects are shooting at, he was hit in the leg. he's been taken to a hospital. we're working to try and get a better condition update. all we have right now

nbc 10's jesse gary is live outside of st. christopher's hospital for children in north philadelphia with more on how the boy is doing. jesse? >> reporter: rosemary police say the 12-year-old is in stable condition with a gunshot wound to his left thigh. now detectives are trying to determine why he was shot in the first place. a couple of hours ago, philadelphia police investigators returned to the scene in the 3500 block of jany street in port richmond. they completed processing the scene, but didn't say what if anything they found inside. just before 3:00 an argument started between the woman and her live-in boyfriend. that man heard someone coming down the stairs and without checking first, he fired one time hitting the 12-year-old in his left thigh. the boyfriend has not yet been arrested, but he could be charged later depending on what new evidence the investigators find in their most recent search. we'll keep checking in on the 12-year-old and give you an update in 30 minutes. >>> meanwhile, philadelphia police are conti

jesse gary live in center city with what's going on there. ing us up to speed. >> vai, new information from inside the courthouse. we've learned court is now going to resume at 1:30. because of a gag order i can't be told exactly why that's happening. no court now but will resume at 1:30 in the afternoon. we're expecting page winslow will take the stand and resume testimony. last week she claimed high-profile clients amber rose proof according to her she had mastered the butt injections. prosecutors say the procedures she did were done illegally since she had no medical license. one injection killed a 20-year-old woman in brit ran in 2011. it hit a vein and sent silicone into the victim's lungs and brain. winslow charged with third degree murder. if found guilty she could face decades in prison. i had the opportunity to talk to a family member that winslow is hanging it there and has faith the case will be resolved without her being found guilty. it will be updated on the mobile app. either free to download. live outside the justice center in

nbc 10's jesse gary is live at police headquarters in center city to tell us more. jesse? >> reporter: well, at the time police commissioner ramsey said his request was not an indication that something was wrong but rather he believed things could be improved and still believes that. later today we learned some of the avenues to approve according to the department of justice reports detail finding and action for reform following a rash of police-involved shootings in the city the last few years. the head of the fraternal order of police said some of the problem is working with a deficit when it comes to the number of cops on the street. commissioner ramsey said he felt an overview from washington would be beneficial. one of the recommendations coming later today we have learned will be issuing a taser to philadelphia cops. that's a non-lethal form of weaponry. since the commissioner called for the outside eyes to take a look the numbers of officer-involved shootings have dropped to 43. the years before that had the counts ranging from the mid-40s to highs in the lower 60s.

nbc 10's jesse gary is live at the scene where traffic is moving again. can you tell us anything else about the victim? >> reporter: she lived with her parents at the top of the ridge trailer park. that is about three miles north/northeast of this accident scene on gibson road. around 5:45 this morning, they say she was walking north on knights road crossed against the red traffic signal and was hit by two cars going west on street road. the first driver stopped. the second did not. a time magazine tracked the stats and reported from 2002 to 2013 this was the most dangerous intersection in the country. one local doctor who has a practice on this corner said several factors converged to decrease safety. >> jaywalkers here and aggressive drivers and disrupted sidewalks, so many reasons. >> reporter: police say the first driver stopped but the second kept going. witnesses took cell phone pictures of the license plate and gave the information to pleat and detectives tracked the car to a home in new jersey. both drivers said to be cooperating in the investigat

and as nbc 10's jesse gary reports, the fire is impacting people well outside of that immediate area. >> residents called 911 early saturday morning saying flames were shooting from this 65,000 square foot warehouse on west moorland street in philadelphia. remnants from the now shuttered business shepherd to sustain the flames and force the two alarm flyer to four alarms. >> the initial decided to go with a --. very good call. as a vacant property. we don't risk life for vacant properties. >> the roof and part of the wall in the rear collapsed. took four hours to bring the blaze under control but not tap out the flame. efforts hampered by over head power lines and septa tracks nearby. runoff water from firefighting efforts rushed down near septa tracks. septa say service on the manayunk norristown line is suspended the rest of the weekend due to dangers of collapse on the tracks. >> the fire marshal will ultimately determine the cause but that will not happen until the flames are out and it is cool enough to go outside and no long aerorisk of collapse. jesse gary nbc 10 news. >>> poli
